Let's hope! Obviously I would prefer for Ferrari to win, but at this point if it is ANYONE other than RB, I will be happy. No matter how much action there is in a race, races for second place are pretty boring.
On that note, I have heard mention that next year's regs will not favor aero nearly as much as they have for a while now. Has anyone else seen any proof to this, or is it just speculation? I do know that they finally listened to me bitch for the past few years (yeah right! ) about the exhaust being used for aero (blown diffusers, etc.) and have changed it to a single exhaust pipe that can have no bodywork behind it, so there is no aero advantage from it. That in and of itself will be a massive hit to RB as they have gained more from this than anyone. We saw how much of a hit RB took when they couldn't use their blown diffuser. Hopefully the exhaust will be enough to level the playing field. I see below that they are changing the wings and nose height, but that alone will not keep Adrian from working his magic.
Exhaust - unlike today where two exhaust tailpipes are used, the 2014 regulations mandate the use of a single tailpipe which must be angled upwards to prevent the exhaust flow being used for aerodynamic effect. Additionally, bodywork is not allowed to be placed behind the tailpipe.
Nose height - for safety reasons the height of noses will be reduced in 2014. The maximum height is currently 550mm, whereas next year it’s 185mm.
Front wing - front wings will be a little narrower next year with the width reduced from 1800mm to 1650mm.
Rear wing - the rear wing will also look a little different in 2014 compared to this year’s models. The lower beam wing is being outlawed and the main flap will be slightly shallower in profile.
