I could see him back at McLaren.

Look at the dudes history. He hasn't made a single pairing with a teammate that approached his talent work out. Not one. Its different now, why?

Plus, of all the people he could intimidate or play mind games on, it aint Kimi.

And I don't need to smoke the ganja, what with the IV drip and all. Its really working out now with the all terrain tires on it. wink.gif

I think there are some burned bridges at McLaren he may not be able to cross.

Yep, and I thought the same about Kimi and Ferrari. Granted spygate was worse than buyout gate, but Ron is pretty much out by now isn't he? I think Mclaren wants to win just as much as Ferrari does and 'Nando would be a better bet than Jensen or Perez.

Ferrari won a championship with Kimi, and they bought out his contract to get Alonso.
McLaren paid out $100M in fines and got a DSQ.

This is apples and oranges at best. Alonso to McLaren is the least likely driver change to occur.

I'm not saying its in the bag, just speculating. Maybe we should both add IMO to our posts.

I assumed "IMO" was implicit.

It is with me, but "Alonso to McLaren is the least likely driver change to occur" sounded like fact instead of opinion. It's a text/internet thing, I just read it wrong. All apologies smile.gif

They want Button to sign one year contracts as is, so I don't think they're too worried about it. Button or Hulk to Ferrari. You know Mclaren isn't going to stay down and if next years car is good enough, Fred could actually pull it off. As much smack as I talk about him, he's pretty damn good.

And as good as he is, he's also a total PITA. Remember this?

Is it going to be the Caddy or the 458?
Maybe Alonso will decide hes wasting his talent in F1 and go to IndyCar. biggrin.gif
Tack can be his sponsor.
Just my opinion.

Sadly, I doubt I will ever have to make the decision.biggrin.gif

I friend of mine mentioned it to me a couple weeks ago, and I have watched a few races. The tech on those boats is amazing. Anyone happen to see the New Zealand boat almost capsize today. That was a genuine Holy Carp moment. I know nothing of yacht racing and I gasped to see the boat at about 45 degrees to the water.

A thought occurred to me during a tech overview that they aired that talked about how the boats "work". I wonder what Adrian Newey could do with an America's Cup Yacht?

Are you serious?

I guess at the end of the day one of the top five F1 designers of all time couldn't be bothered with extra curricular activities.
I thought a read something a few years ago about Newey wanting to get into boat design after F1?confused.gif

Anyway....is THIS the future of F1?

While electric racing is pretty cool,I don't think the sound of a pack of vacuum cleaners at 180 mph is going to thrill to many people.

Tell that to all the fans of the great Audi TDI vs. Peugeot HDi battles in ALMS and LeMans.

The only noise those cars made were from the tires and aero. The electric cars will have that as well.

True,I've seen both and was impressed with the speed and silence of them, sorta like ninja warriors. But I think some of the spectacle of F1 is the ear piercing sound of those fantastic motors. The sound of Buttons BAR Honda while I was in the main grandstands at indy is forever burned into my memory. smile.gif

OTOH: I wouldn't mind a break from my ear plugs at the 12 Hours of Sebring. wink.gif
