More beautiful? More muscular, perhaps. Kind of like the new Dodge Chargers and Challengers. But to each his own. I owned a 928 back in the 80's not because it was the fastest production car in the world (it was), but because I thought that "egg" shape was sheer automotive design perfection. It was all about the curves, lines, proportions. Still is. I'm weird like that. wink.gif

Yeah! Hello from Sebring. Arrived in time for ALMS testing yesterday. First practice coming up in an hour. Second this afternoon, and the ever popular night practice tonight. We have reserved parking right along the fence at pit out approaching turn 1.

Awesome! I can imagine why night practice is so popular. Very cool.

True...but he is a "car salesman" and they deserve much more than that.biggrin.gif

I bought mine in December last year. The fastest car I've owned yet! Made specifically for the road courses not drag racing, although it is running 11:70's stock!
I didn't know you have a V...I thought I was the only one here who did.
You have a ZL1 too?

I have always been a fan of curvey cars
However, I have also become a fan of Cadillac's Art and Science aesthetic too.

Well, I guess I can experience it vicariously thru you.wink.gif

Actually, he's an actor.......http://gma.yahoo.com/blogs/abc-blogs/jeff-gordons-pepsi-prank-viral-videos-storm-ad-141106387--abc-news-tv.html

You could tell it was staged with the multiple tire tracks by the gate. It's pathetic that Gordon didn't do all of the driving. I guess driving in circles doesn't really teach you how to handle a car! biggrin.gif

Whoa, I didn't know that.
Although I did wonder why they would risk JG on something like this.

Hey, Jeff Gordon can drive. He's one of the best road course drivers in NASCAR where they actually have to make right turns too. Of course, F-1 guys would say that ain't sayin' much. tongue.gif

Since we're talking about everything except F1 around here biggrin.gif, TCM is showing a night of movies entitled A Need For Speed. Movies about going fast that might interest the speed freaks around here- you know who you are!

Check the upper right corner for all the titles. http://www.tcm.com/this-month/article/568384|0/The-Need-for-Speed-3-27.html

Thank heavens Australia is tonight.

You have a ZL1 too?

Not now, three years ago! I had to sell the V because I had two teenagers on my policy at that time, and they couldn't drive that car. I bought the ZL1 last year before Christmas. I still want to get another V sedan. The ZL1 is the same basic power plant as your CTS- V. You fortunately have the 2.3L supercharger versus the 1.9L on the ZL1. I am sure you have visited the Cadillac forums?

Okay just for the record I cannot wait to watch first practice tonight! biggrin.gif

That's true.

I can remember some talk years ago about him taking a shot at F1.
Apparently, he is a fan of the series.

NO WAY would I let a teenager drive a V.eek.gif

I wasn't aware of the size difference.
I do know the ZR1 has a bigger displacement SC than the Vs.

I think your car must be running more boost than mine.
It's the only way it would account for its greater power numbers.

Thankfully, no bottom line.

Noticing on NBCSN the F1 feed graphics are formatted for 4:3 SD. I thought on Speed the F1 feed graphics were formatted for 16:9?
I don't get why they are formatting for 4:3 when NBCSN SD is letter boxed.
This looks awfully bad.
F1 is one of the few positive examples where the picture framing/composition is done for 16:9. I was so happy with that on speed - hopefully enough people complain.
I could imagine that this 4:3 save feed might be cheaper.
I thought it looked ok. The one thing I really noticed though was it seemed like the pq in the studio was much better than on track.

Haven't watched practice yet, but that sucks. Does anyone know how NBCSN broadcasts their SD channel? I was at a friends house who only had SD cable, and a majority of the channels letterboxed the HD feed for their SD channels. I'd be surprised if NBCSN cropped. In 2013, no excuse for 4:3 graphics in the US.

I am sorry it's not perfect for you while viewing! I am old school and remember watching ABC's Wide World of Sports. In those days you received about 10-15 mins of F-1 coverage in an hour program. I will never forget watching the 1978 Monza race and watching Ronnie Peterson crash and burn up! There was no follow up on what had happened. They did confirm that Mario Andretti had won the W/C. Be thankful for what you have now. I apologize if i'm flaming but you are whining about something really insignificant. I was too busy watching the cars and listening to the commentators to fixate on graphics!
I can understand both sides on the pq issue. It looks better on my new tv than anything from years before. But on the other hand it is disappointing to watch the news with better pq than your favorite sport.
I agree that the graphics are distracting, being formatted for 4:3, the listing of the order of the drivers is too far towards the center of the screen, its distracting, and at times even blocked something i want to see.

I also agree that the studio had tremendous PQ, really great.

Overall though, its great to see the cars running on a track finally!!!

Absolutely no extra work would be required for 16:9 feed. It's already produced. They just need to pick up the feed.

It'd be much easier to watch those cars with the graphics pushed outside the middle of the screen.

Watching P2 now and I just now understand what you guys are talking about with the graphics. I didnt pay it any attention last night. When they show in car camera shots the left side of the car is covered by the graphics. My opinion? I wholeheartedly agree. IT BLOWS.
Has anyone found a way to catch P3. I would gladly have traded it for P1. I hope we dont miss P3 all season.

I haven't found anything. Agreed. Nothing happened in FP1 until the last 30 minutes.
