Yamaha V673 vs Denon 1913

I cannot decide between these two AVRs. Can anyone help me spell out the differences and the cons of the individual receivers?

The 673 can upscale to 4k whllst the 1913 can only upscale to 1080p/24, although the Audyssey MultEQ in the 1913 can EQ the sub which YPAO in the 673 cannot do. Ideally take them both home and decide which EQ you prefer more, Audyssey or YPAO.

I do not currently have the option to take them home and try them out. I do not care much for the 4K upscaling, so other than that is it mainly just the MultEQ vs YPAO as the only difference?

And as far as your opinion if you had to choose which would it be?

I'm interested in the same information. However, I was comparing the 673 with the Denon 1713 (i dont need 7.1 surround). I have not done extensive research by any means. But, it looks to,me like the Yamahas may have a little better app for the iPod or iPhone remote. I'm not sure about that. And, I think I have read some posts saying that the Denons may be a little more prone to need repair. I'm not sure about that either. It appears to me that the Denons dont have AM radio. All of those issues are minor, but may be pushing me toward the Yamaha I think. I have owned both Denons and Yamahas and have been very happy with them both. I'm interested to see what others here might say in response to your post.

Newegg currently has a special on the VX673: 550$ and comes with a 170$ gift card. Link

You have to decide which is more important to you (which only you can decide) ... features (Yamaha perhaps) or better audio fidelity (Denon). Using these lower level models, you really can't go wrong with either choice. Decide what is more important to you and make your selection accordingly. smile.gif

I am now facing this same question. Frys had the Denon 1913 for $329 a couple of weeks ago, so I picked one up. Haven't had a chance to install it yet. Still in sealed box, well within the return period.

I believe, though I've yet to confirm, that Frys has the Yamaha RXV-673 this week for $399 in-store only.

The extra inputs and pre-amp outs on the Yamaha are of no consequence to me, so it boils down to sound quality and build quality.

So, I'd be interested in hearing any comments on those two aspects. Does the Denon produce better sound, given predominance of use for movies, gaming, and TV?

I did confirm Frys' ad. In-store only, RXV-673 is $399 through next Thursday or whenever they sell out. Not many left here in Atlanta.

Depending on Fry's return policy, why not just pick it up and return the one you decide not to keep?

Fry's offers a 30 day return policy and there is no restocking fee. so you might as well pick up the Yamaha and give it a test drive.
