Starting up the metal framing, I'd had no prior experience with framing, but seems to have come out great!












Each row of lighting is on a separate switch leg, I control each row with some Lutron RadioRa 2 dimmers.

Made a "resonate chamber" for my seating, it really shakes when the bass hits!






Screen is just white Sherwin Williams paint directly on the wall. Seems to do the trick, although maybe some people can dispute the quality of that for me.




Built the back wall 2 feet off the wall so I can hide the project out of view and the room will remain silent.


First step light I bought was BIT too large!

Built my own screen frame and wrapped it with velveteen.

Mounted the frame around the white painted screen, looks pretty professional. Not bad for about $100 in materials and paint.



Giant sub does pretty well for the space!




Carpet just went in, looks pretty good.

About three months from start to finish. I just worked on it in my spare time after work and on weekends. Had some help from my Dad as well.

I'll post more detailed photos of the projector setup when I get home. I basically built the back wall of the theater 2 feet from the poured concrete foundation in my basement. I then built a shelf and attached it to the concrete wall. The shelf can be adjusted depending on what projector is being used. I bought a small piece of anti-reflective glass to use as the cover in front of the hole. This way none of the light from the projector is lost due to reflections. I built my own wooden frame and sealed it up with some weather stripping so none of the fan noise would transmit through the wall.

Thanks man! Yea I was surprised how fast it came together myself. I hired out electric and drywall though. I know my limits and they can do it MUCH better than me at this point.

Not the greatest frame I've ever created, but does the trick.

Think its around 11-12 feet wide and 25-26 feet deep. Ceilings are about 7-8 feet.

Screen size is 110". It is just ultra white Shermin Williams door and trim paint. I followed the advice from this article, seems to look good to my eyes:

I bought a SonoSuede package from Auralex Acoustics. The difference was night and day in audio quality.

As a side note, Auralex was very helpful at figuring out what materials/packages to buy for your room. If you send them your room layout and answer some basic questions they reply with their recommendations.

Yea, I'm not sure how much diffusion helped in my particular case. If it was the diffusor itself or just my ear that can't tell. The absorbers definitely made a HUGE difference.
