I tried searching, but found little information and most of it was out of date.
I want to be able to use VST or AU plug-ins to process the sound from movies being played on a Mac.
Or, if there's any way to route the decoded 5.1 audio to a program that does support VST or AU plug-ins, that would work too.
I am not familiar with Mac's, but on Windows, ASIO is used to route multi-channel audio from one program or hardware to another.
Does anyone know how that can be done on a Mac?
I have seen http://rogueamoeba.com/audiohijackpro/ which supports VST and AU, but I think it will only "hijack" 2 channel audio, but I am not sure. I want at least 5 or 6 or 8 channels to run through some DSP processing.
I know it's a little obscure, but maybe some Mac experts here might also be musicians and can steer me in the right direction.
Thanks in advance for your help,
-Darin
