Soundbars and interference with low-profile, 3D 55" ?

I've got a couple Panasonic 55" plasmas that sit very close to the base.

The IR sensor appears to be located about 2 1/8" from the base.

I'm concerned that most of the soundbars will block access and interfere with the 3D operation.

How much of a concern should this be?

Should I limit my search for soundbars under 2 1/8" high?

I've noticed that Panasonic's (better) soundbars are 3" high - Should I assume they've tested this?

Something like the Yamaha YSP-2200which has an IR out so you can attach to your TV so the remote signals would work. There are also soundbars that go under your TV like the Zvox units that could also work. You could also place your TV on a small stand so the sound bar doesn't block the IR of the TV.
