Genie

My current setup includes whole home DVR service with 4 HDDVR and I was thinking about getting the Genie because of some of the features such as PIP. Obviously tuners is not the issue because I have a totall of 8 Tuners but when I got the whole home dvr service i was disappointed to find out that you cant record from one room to another receiver. You have two setup recording on the individual dvr then of course you can watch them on any tv. Will the Gennie allow me to record a show in one room but access another rooms receiver?
anybody have this type of setup? Thanks

Only of the other receiver is a RVU client like the DIRECTV C31 or a Samsung TV that has RVU support.

None of the DVRs will record on another DVR.
A [non DVR] receiver will and you can select which.
The Genie & client work together, so the clients only record on the Genie.

Is anyone aware of any promotions currently for DTV, specifically relating to the Genie? I'm out of contract and still running an HR21 and no whole house package yet.

Best thing you can do is call DIRECTV and ask. Usually the best deal is call and say you want to cancel service to get to the retention department. When you get to them say right away you don't want to cancel service but would like to get a good deal on the HR34, they're the group that can make the best deals.

I was out of contract and got the Genie setup for $249 - included in that price was the new receiver, installation and another HD receiver to swap out a guest bedroom standard receiver.

My HR21 died so I decided to upgrade to the Genie, it was 299 + 49 for the client. Pretty happy so far though it has been only 3 days.
