Hi all. I just got done installing and setting up my Onkyo TX-NR818 in my basement and am in need of a good indoor FM antenna, anyone have any recommendations? Thanks.

Speaker wire! Run it as high in the house as you can! To the roof up through the attic would be sufficient unless you are 25+ miles from your favorite station.

I live 25 miles NW of Chicago, I have used this FM antenna for 10 yrs with my Parasound T3 tuner, it is the best FM antenna I have owned.

Then use that one! If it works, don't fix it!

I use a $15 set of HD rabbit ears for my FM listening. Works quite well actually.

Did your receiver come with one of those standard T shaped antenna's? If so, have you tried it? You should try to set it up like a T. If you're using an entertainment cabinet, you can tape it to the back.

I've found those work as well as anything. The best thing to do is get an outdoor antenna for around $30 and place it outdoors, but they tend to be big and ugly.

If you have a cable TV wire down there hook its shield to the non-ground terminal of your AVR's FM antenna input.

Thanks for the input everyone, I bought a dipole T wire antenna along with a matching transformer, I'm going to give that a shot.

So you're saying to tie the center pole of the antenna connector on the receiver to the outer side of the incoming cable connector?
