Are risers recommended for BOC screen stretching?

Hey all,
I'm planning on making a 54x127 BOC screen. It's going to have two vertical supports to keep it from twisting/warping. I was reading in smokarz spandex screen that he put risers (1x2) on top of the 1x4 frames to keep the supports from showing through. Is that necessary for the BOC or is that a specific problem when working with spandex? Thanks!

You wouldn't want to risk the supports showing through any fabric. Rather than put risers all around the frame, I just recessed the supports a bit by putting some wood on the back of the frame where the supports would attach, and then attaching the supports to those rather than to te frame directly.

It is primarily an issue with Spandex because the BOC is thicker and much more opaque than the Spandex when stretched. It is not even an issue with Spandex if two layers are used.
