Budget Receiver with Adjustable Crossover

Hi All,

I'm looking to spruce up my modest TV room (not where I do my primary or critical listening). I have a set of Energy Take classics and an old passive 12" sub with a dedicated amp. The problem is that the energy's only go down to about 115hz and the current old yamaha receiver I'm using has a fixed sub crossover at 80hz, when I set the speakers to "Small" so there's a huge gaping hole in the frequency response. This is kind of ok for movies (the kids use the TV most) but horrible for just about any music.

I'd like to setup the sub to take on anything below 120hz. Can anyone recommend a budget receiver with an adjustable crossover? I've heard that Onkyo has a few models, but also has unreliable HDMI switching.

Thanks!

Bump. Anyone have any recommendations for a receiver with an adjustable crossover for the sub output?

I think ALL receivers today have adjustable crossover settings. What is your budget? I assume you want a 5.1 receiver?

Denon, Marantz, and Onkyo all allow for individual crossovers for each speaker while Pioneer (and Yamaha I believe) have one global crossover for all speakers, although this would still satisfy your requirement of setting them all to a specific crossover (eg. 120Hz). So select any current model AVR with confidence that it will meet your requirement. In the Denon line, check out the 1613.

Wow, I guess I'm out of touch. I thought it was still a rare thing. Thanks!
