Tekton Pendragon - Page 5

I talked with Eric today.......those are dual "Pendragon" subs in his picture. I believe he does offer another sub, the s-12. Someone help....not sure. Right now those Pen subs are 600.00 each. He is also trying to get Andrew Robinson to do a follow up review of the entire system. That would be fun!

pioneertop, i think i am gonna hold on to the 600i's for awhile. Running them as dual centers and they sound and blend well. Have had a full Polk RT line for along time. Sold most of them off after getting the Pendragons. Had some Anthony Gallo Strada's for a front stage just before the Pens.

Pioneer top , time for a bigger tv ! Are those pendragon subs powered ?

Can anyone chime in on the size of the shipping boxes of the Oriel 10s? I'm asking because if my speakers ship I may not be off work on the shipment day and may have to have them held at a FEDEX location. If so, they would have to fit in my NIssan Altima.
Won't fit. There double boxed and I don't remember the measurements but they filled up my pathfinder !

Do you think I could put one box in my Altima and the second one in my wife's Hyundai Sonata? My wife would drive her car and I would drive mine.

Its about 48 inches long , 20 inches wide and 24 inches deep. Just watched transformers 2 with the tektons and razor sharp and stunning .

what center are you using?
Pendragon centre. ideally I would have got pendragon fronts but would be overkill to my room and my budget. Very happy with my oriel 10's.
^ I am thinking about going with the Lore and either using in my theater or setting up a dedicated two-channel room. What do you think of the center channel?
Pendragon centre is great .... after its broken in. First 8-10 hours it sounds tight and then once it opens up its sweet. Super efficient like all tekton speakers . It replaced a 700 dollar b&w centre channel and it blows it away. Much Fuller sound and voices at low levels are clearer. I am sure their are better centre channels for more money but I don't think that in the 800 price point much is better. Maybe nicer looking ... its not a stunner , but sounds great .

Do you think it blends well with your Oriels? timbre match pretty well and doesn't stand out over the Oriels?
To me they sound very similar . I don't sit in the dark with a glass of wine listening to classical music though . Watched 20 movies and nothing has sounded out of place. The centre channel for the lores is a bookshelf speaker with one eight. My plan was to eventually pit the oriels to the back and get pendragon for fronts but I am so happy with the oriels I think I am done for awhile .

Did most of you guys who ordered your speakers recently have any delays in receiving them or were they reasonably on time? I'm just wondering because I ordered the M-Lores 2 weeks ago and was given a 3 week time frame for completion. I know Eric had some issues that he had to sort out. I'm just wondering if I should be anticipating that they ship next week or if I'll have to wait a little longer. I'm using the M-Lores for my office. I'm afraid if I try them for movies and they are great, I might end up moving my Phil 2s to my office for dedicated two channel and then springing for the Pendragons for HT with M-Lores as rears.eek.gif
post #136 of 799
Will probably take 4-5 weeks to get them. Only big downside to tekton ... slow delivery . It was worth the wait for me.

I ordered Oriel 10s on December 28....still no speakers. I would have no problem with the long delivery if Eric would come clean with his delivery times.rolleyes.gif

^ dang dude that is a long wait! I'm sorry. I was thinking about ordering Lores eventually myself but not sure I want to wait 2-3 months... hell I'm getting old! smile.gif

I know. I had been giving Eric a lot of slack, but I have been reading about others who ordered weeks after me, yet they already received their order. I'm at a loss over the situation. As I have stated before I have talked to Eric with no results. If my speakers don't ship this week, I am going to cancel because vacation and frustration is fast approaching.. I did not order any special finish, just a standard satin finish in white. He told me over a week ago he had started a white paint production run and that my speaker cabinets were next to be painted. On January 27 he told me that a " run of Oriel 10's coming together now" and that my speakers would be done before much longer. There have been other times that he has misled (misled is kind of strong, but I don't know any other way to characterize it) me on delivery. I promise you guys this is the last posting that I am going to talk about it....I'm done.

^ I hope he comes through for you soon, and that we hear from you that it was worth the wait. Sounds like you have been more than patient...

Uh oh. That doesn't bode too well. You're more patient than I. Great character trait though. The long wait I could probably do, but knowing that others who ordered after me already received theirs would raise my ire. My wife is currently irate over zGallerie not yet delivering our new living room set, which we ordered December 22. We haven't been able to sit in the main living room since we moved into our new house two days before NYE. So I feel your pain. If it's any consolation, I spoke with Eric yesterday and he said they had just finished painting some white cabinets (hopefully mine is one of those) and that my speakers "should likely go out next week." Here's hoping.

Ordered 5 m-lores end of nov. recieved 2 a couple weeks ago. I have heard the same stories. Not happy. Built an entire home theater since waiting.
^ The more stories I hear about this, i think i am going to look elsewhere. It would be different if he gave realistic expectations on when you would get your speakers then you could decide whether you could live with the wait. Saying one thing 2-3 weeks delivery and then it being 3-4 months will eventually cost him more and more business.

Guys...

Here are the facts:

1.) We all in general agree that Tekton makes an awesome product.
2.) That basically this is a small small operation or a one man operation (Eric)
3.) That the awesome and almost unheard of reviews the Pendragon's recieved pushed up demand far beyond what was easy for them to handle.
4.) Eric is going through some personal issues right now (Divorce).

Now to deal with these issues Eric can do a few things:

1.) Rev up his production capabilties but if this is just a spike...for a small business...it the out front capital layout could come back to bite him. (That is as long as there are no supply side issues.)
2.) Slap the suckers together as fast as he can but quality control goes out the window.
3.) Deal with personal and professional issues as best he can and hope that the quality of his speakers and word of mouth carry him through this until he can figure out of this is just a spike (post review) or a long term increase in demand.

If you ever been overwhelmed at work and in life...(I think most of us have) we all know things do not always go as smoothly (or from the outside looking in)...as logically as a detached 3rd party would like.

I understand why allot of people may shy away now from what I am hearing (no pun intended) I may have as well... But the quality of these speakers for the price is amazing... So we all have to make a difficult call.

Those that have been around a while have seen similar situations (123av, ED, etc) and there is reason for caution... I am not saying there isn't. You have to determine risk v. reward.
^ I would agree, but over promising on something you know you can't deliver in my opinion is just misleading and contrary to good business sense. If people have realistic expectations then it can be there decision whether to wait or not and that takes the negativity that is starting to show away from Tekton. In the short term that may cost him some business but it won't cost the business it's reputation and in the long term may be much more valuable until he gets through the growing pains. I would love to try his speakers because what I have heard from people who have done business with him and who have received there speakers in addition to the pro-reviews have all been very-very positive.
I knew before I ordered that it would be slow. I don't see it as a risk vs reward. If you say I need it by this time and eric doesn't deliver then cancel your order get your money back and move on. A better description is frustration vs reward . Now we have heard of 2-3 people with unacceptable slow orders. I have no idea how many orders he did fill this month. One thing for sure is they can't continue to screw up peoples orders for long. If 3 turns into 15 then word of mouth will go south fast. I hope they straighten it out cuz I love there product .

I am new to the form as I stumbled on this site while searching the web looking to see if I am alone in not receiving Tekton product. I ordered my Pendragons 6 months ago with the optional grills (the grills were mandatory and not an option for me and were paid for with my speaker order). I did receive the speakers in about 5 weeks but I have not received my grills 6 months later. After six months and after several request I still have no idea or commitment or an ETA of when I may receive my grills. I am told that they are on the production schedule and that I will get them; but when?

I know that they make the grills in batches...but agree...6 months is not acceptable in anyone's book. I know Eric is somewhat fundementally opposed to grills but there are practical reasons some of us need them... Sorry to hear about your experience.

I don't know how well any of you "know" Eric but I would honestly direct him to this thread... He needs to be made aware ...that others are being made aware...there are issues here.
Has anyone received any Pendragon grills in the last few months or it just my set that is an issue?
Eric said he is going to make them in batches beginning next month. I agree the wait is excessive. Has anyone received their surrounds?
