A fool and his money , will soon part ways. Just sayin.
I had no idea of any grill issue until I was given the tracking number via email after I paid for my product. ( see below)So, I ask... am I any more of a fool that your were when you paid for your speakers the day he shipped them to you?
13 months ago when I placed my order I did all of my Tekton research and I had at that time nothing but perfect reviews and a Glenn Beck endorsement to make my decision. I called and talked with Eric and all was perfect so I thought. This was over a year ago prior to his domestic fiasco that started the down turn and the negative post showing up on this form.
Below is the email I received after I paid for everything.
If I had then the pages and pages of warnings that all of you new guys have now I may have questioned the grills shipping separately but as you can see in his email below it sounded legit at the time.Your loudspeakers are shipping tomorrow. Your FedEx tracking number is: XXXXXXXXXX
It is important to unpack the Pendragon loudspeaker very carefully. Improper unpacking can result in a damaged tweeter and/or drive unit.
The shipping box is in two pieces - there is a taped seam all the way around the middle of the box. Note that the spikes are located in the top piece of foam in one of the loudspeakers.
1. Open the top of the box. However, don't remove the top pieces of packing foam.
2. Carefully cut along the tape line around the center (insure that you don't cut deeply).
3. Lift the top box up and off the loudspeaker while insuring the foam is held precisely in place.
4. Carefully remove the foam packaging to access the loudspeaker. Also, be extra careful to make sure that the packing foam directly touching the front baffle of the loudspeakers safely clears the drive units when removing the foam. If the foam directly contacts the tweeters, it can damage the domes.
The Pendragon is a heavy loudspeaker. Take no chances with lifting. It is safer to place a blanket or protective fabric on the floor/ground and lay the loudspeaker on its side to remover the lower portion of the packaging with the loudspeaker in the horizontal position.
Regarding the grilles: Always press the grilles onto the speakers carefully and insure the pins are lined up prior to pressing them in place. I will be shipping the grilles separately. I do them in batches and wanted to get you the loudspeakers without further delay.
I hope you enjoy the speakers!
I don't think I was any more of a fool that anyone who gives this guy his credit card number. Well, as I type this now I think anyone giving a card # to a small speaker company with negative feedback may need to think about that money that will soon be departing; Just Sayin...
Hey Inspectr... I in good faith cannot reassure a nervous buyer like you have. He asked folks on this form if he ( BigDADY) has made a mistake. Yes, the speakers sound good but I still say at the 1st sign of something being fishy or any production excuses is given that nervous guy should IMO place his credit card company at a minimum on notice. BigDADY did not say if he ordered grills. If he did he very well may have made a BIG mistake based on my experience.
Inspectr, I still would like to know how do you know for a fact that " Eric is having grills made and they should be available later this year"
Over eight months ago I was told the grills should ship by the week end and then he had someone working on them. You have no idea how upsetting and the total BS I have experienced simply trying to get what I paid for.
You guys ask have I got my money back and what did I pay for my grills. Eric quoted me a total price of shipping and the speakers with the grills. The grills were never an option for me; I had to have grills. No heads up or warning was given to me by Eric or any hint of delay until after I had paid. After I paid I simply thought he was shipping the grills in a 2nd box. I had no blog, review or anything at that time to question his intent.
Did I ever ask for a refund just for the grills? No, I do not want a refund just for the grills as I don't even know what just the grills cost as I ordered, needed, required, paid for a complete set of speakers and when I say complete I am talking with grills like 95% of other speakers on the market. He never gave me an itemized break down. he simply quoted me a total price with grills and the shipping charge to my door
After a few months I did tell him if he could not produce my grills I wanted a full refund and I wanted to return the speakers. His response was that I would get my grills.
If any of you guys know Eric I do so hope you would encourage the guy to spend a few days out of his busy schedule and put the grill issue fire out.Any of you Tekton owners that one day may want to upgrade from your Pendragons no mater if you like grills or not need to understand this kind of stuff can hurt all of our Pendragon resale values in the long run you know.
