Maybe we can add you to the "alternates" list. History dictates that one or more people will drop out at the last minute, so spaces usually open up.

Let me do some experimenting at different crossover points to get a feel for how they sound full range. I know Kevin (Mr. Smithers) and Carp were very happy with the extension of the Tempest though last time they were experimenting. cool.gif

Those look pretty nice. Like I said, I really haven't heard DIY speakers(besides the subs at the last GTG) so this will be interesting.

They are looking alot nicer now that they're sanded and rounded over, etc. The roundover on the port looks awesome! Can't wait to get them painted, should only be a few more days. Tomorrow night I'm going to start fabbing up some grills for them. I'll get some more pictures up shortly. cool.gif Can't wait to listen to them, not sure what to expect since no one has built this model yet, but the specs and models look amazing.

It's that brutal time of the year. I know all about the traveling woes too, I traveled ~50 weeks a year for 5 years for work, ugh.

When did they discontinue the passive Cap? frown.gif As far as I've known they always used the same 4000W rms capable driver in the full blooded passive cap (not the 1000). The amp in the powered version they changed to the 2400W, but I believe the driver stayed the same.

I owned two of these and demo'd them for the group at the last GTG in October. Awesome subs!

I believe that is bad data as they are still listed on the website. As gorilla83 mentioned it's the 4K amp on the powered Cap that is no longer available ...

Actually, they may be discontinued... under Residential the only options I see listed are the Captivator 1000, 24000, S1 and S2, all of which come with an internal amp.

Jim - the passive Cap never had it's own page. As far as I know Jeff hasn't changed the driver from 2011 on. If you go to the Cap 2400 you will see a blurb under the specs:

"*available passively with binding posts or speakon connectors and 2, 4 or 8 ohm for $1499." Same holds true for the Cap 1000. cool.gif

I never knew that. Doesn't seem like the best way to go about it to be honest - I would think highlighting each product individually is a better way to go about getting them exposure.

I would love to hear a pair of the cap s2's. Those that have heard them rave so far!!! pretty serious cab for a solid company. You can't say Jeff isn't covering all the bases right now!! haha an orbit shifter would be an awful lot of fun too biggrin.gif

Yeah, look at the extension we were getting in my room at the main LP: I must not have had the graph scrolled over past 15hz when taking the measurements which is why the line cuts off.






I know the volume level wasn't real high, but still - extension below 30hz actually. Wow. Now, you give up a lot of sensitivity doing that but I don't know if that really matters or not. They sounded great running full range.

If the 12" drivers dipped that low in my room, your 15" drivers would kill!!

WOW, you guys were solid down into the high 20s! I bet the midbass sounded killer. I'm SO darn close to finishing my cabinets, I should have some listening impressions and measurements with any luck at all by the end of the weekend.

They're now ready for painting and finishing. I've also got the grill frames done and magnets are installed/glued into the baffles. Speakon holes are cut, connectors are due to arrive tomorrow. I've got 2 of the 3 crossovers done, and tested one of them last night. I painted the bottom of the cabs and will be primering the rest of the cabs tonight.

Oh, and LOL @ the title of your omnimic chart. No BS indeed. biggrin.gif

A lot of it could be the room, Kevin said they were supposed to dip down to around 40hz if I remember right, and the graph shows way lower obviously.

If 40hz is full range, my TD12x's outta go into the full range category as well, but I have yet to measure them, so I can't know for sure.

Yeah, I should have thought of that... the room doesn't add much to the Noesis, the are pretty flat to the mid 50's and are rated to 60 so not much gain there. In fact, in a ported design isn't it kind of impossible for the room to add much below port tune? If that's the case then forget my guess that it could be the room.

Typically a HPF is applied below port tune which would roll off pretty sharply. I assume you guys ran them without any crossover? Mine are only tuned to mid-high 40s, so I'm not expecting any crazy extension or anything.

Yeah, no crossover just set the receiver to large no sub.
