Also, I have compiled my 600+ track Bass Buster collection, "In Case Of Emergency, Break Bass" USB thumb drive. Here's a list of tracks:
http://navesink.net/public_html/ICOE-BreakBass.pdf

Obviously I can't provide copies of that but I'll have it with me if interested in skimming it...

Hey Kadath - thanks for the offer. I actually have those discs as well, but many of those clips are relatively long by themselves (some are 2-3 minutes) and will for sure need to be chopped down to be included in our mix. We've got to consider that we'll be listening to each clip 15+ times not including the 'dry runs' on Friday. It doesn't take long before they get repetitive and we lose interest. biggrin.gif

I think those discs do have some great content in the surround effects section, but we would need to trim them up a bit. The book of eli shootout scene is one of my favorites!

I think the gunshots are also a good test of the dynamic capability of the speakers. Love that thunder at the beginning, crank it up above reference and it's a real thunderstorm.

Like it better than the Underworld elevator scene? Or is the Underworld scene geared more toward ULF?

Man, gotta be careful not to let the S2's steal the show...lol

Archaea provided me with a lot of bluray clips from the demo blurays for the last get together.

I just need to cut them down and get it in a form capable of being automated. Art of Flight I know I have.

Because we are only using stereo; surround sound effects and clips that demo that may not be as stellar as clips that are binaural recordings or have wide stereo separation. Though for the speakers being demoed with a sub the LFE track on the movies will shine.....

Must I say it???

I am sure someone will back me up on this but..... the last get together was the one you should have been at if that's what you want to hear.

also as a side note
The plane crashing scene in flight of the phoenix has clipping. Meaning the waveform in the recording is clipped. It is what causes the impressive bass and the rotor chopping sound.

-edit: corrected my mistake.

Do you have a copy of Open Range? If not, I will make clips of the gun fight and lightning storm.

I also have a couple of concert blu rays if anyone wants clips from those: 25th Anniv. Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Dave Matthews live at Radio City, NIN Beside You in Time, Porcupine Tree Anesthetize and Eric Clapton Crossroads.

The Art of Flight Alaska scene with the DeadMau5 track is perhaps the best overall HT system demo I have ever seen/heard.

You may want to look that one up ... wink.gif

Yes - but that's a pretty cruddy copy - lots of distortion. This song is the intro song for the art of flight snowboarding clip that RMK is recommending.

Listened to this on Spotify on Saturday - had me grinning for quite some time. biggrin.gif Wife was out of town for the weekend so I got to crank everything up for a few hours. I'm certain my hearing felt the wrath of my lack of volume control. biggrin.gif

Guys - if (And this is a huge if) I were to construct some frames from floor to ceiling and cover them in GOM black transparent fabric, would we want to do at least some of the auditions blind? biggrin.gif Given the size of our audition list it may not be feasible for all but may be nice to do some blind listening to some.

Bah..hand out blind folds! Much easier!
Or keep all lights out, and only the select few get nightvision goggles (military spec preferably). Sensory deprivation will make for a one of a kind g2g if you ask me biggrin.gif

Love the blind test concept... I think it should be feasible for everything, except for the line arrays maybe, or anything else physically too large.

I'd rather not go the blind route.

+1 for blind testing.
I love blind testing anything and if past history repeats itself from the blind auditions I've been a part of then a good speaker or sub is still just as good when you don't know the label on it.
If everyone is blind fold maybe someone (like me) on the overflow list could sneak in! tongue.gif

So long as you don't swipe too much of the beer you may go unnoticed...

I'm only 5'2''... As long as I don't run around in a white suit yelling, "Da Plane, Da Plane, Boss!) and ringing a bell.

I got a shot.. What time do the blind folds go on biggrin.gif

If this was a sub shoot out I can probably get away with the bell if I timed it.

Don't ever do that again! I almost spit out a mouthful of coffee when I read that. tongue.gif

Any GTG would benefit from more of said bell.
