With the LG having no Zoom and the need for exact placement, if you can work around those considerations, WA-DW might be a decent choice. The LG only sports 700 Lumens, and at 120" it will produce 16-17 Foot Lambert of reflected light off the WA-DW, under the assumption the WA-DW is at least 1.1 Gain.

Also, with such a dearth of Lumen output, it's probably a case where you may not experience any Hot Spotting from the slight degree of sheen the WA-DW possesses.

Essentially speaking, your biggest challenge will be the Build itself, as cutting the material to size, building a proper Frame, and getting the laminate glued onto said Frame properly without damage or error are the hurdles you must face.

But as the threads you have over viewed show, it's been done before...and done successfully with very plaudit-ed results.

Your only other basic choice would be to use a 5' x 10' x 6mm sheet of Sintra / Kometex, and paint it with a Bright White OTS paint. Sintra / Kometex is silly easier to work with.....I mean A LOT EASIER to work with, and carries NONE of the aforementioned risks or difficult build characteristics.

Well I've done a few....so let's just do yours "in House" and post up your progress as you go forward.

First off, get the PJ up in the air and shoot a properly sized & squared Image onto the wall to obtain a definite location of your screen's edges.

Then Mount the exterior 1x4 Poplar Frame pieces directly onto the Wall so that their inside edges are 2" inside what will be the leading edge of the viewable screen area. Also add 3 vertical pieces placed equally distantanced across the opening between each outside edge.

Now take 3/8" Drywall and screw it to the Wood forming a flat substrate.

Next you simply Glue the Sintra / Komatex to the Substrate.
Sound plausable?

OK. you'll need a few extra pieces of hardware. And either Rip a piece of 1x8 in the middle @ 45 degrees to make a wooden French Cleat, or purchase one of these:

If the screen is going onto Concrete, You will want to do some pre-drilling of Holes into the ?"Blocks"? or wall and use Concrete Wall Dog Screws.

The frame should have Mitered Corners, inset Corner angles, at least 2 vertical "Center supports,and every "joint" supported by a "Simpson Strong Tie" bracket ("T" or "L" or "Straight")

First you apply a White adhesive ( Power Grab or "White Lightning 2003 Adhesive Caulk) to all the wood surfaces and spread it out evenly, then after placing the Komatex / Sintra "Face-down" on a clean flat surface, you place the Framing on top, pressing it firmly into place.

In fact, if you can do the procedure as directed, you can actually assemble the Frame piece by piece directly onto the material a piece at a time, taking pains to be sure all pieces are precisely in place and the edges are flush. Then, after the adhesive is "set", you can attach all the brackets and not have any worries whatsoever that the framing members will shift during assembly.

The sequence would be:

Top Horizontal piece
All vertical pieces
Bottom Horizontal piece

BTW, be sure your sheet material is square, and always pre-assemble everything first to assure that it is all gonna fit. Use a Pencil and mark off the inside edges of each Framing Piece to also make sure you can easily place them exactly where they should go.

The method above makes the construction of a Large frame a one man job.

You can be sure that 6mm of thickness is almost 4x as thick as Horizontal Grade Laminate, so any adhesive that is properly spread will not transmit any "lumps or bumps".

Your circumstances as stated in the first post would lead me to suggest RS-MaxxMudd Standard if you want a high performance paint mix that will easily allow you to run the LG on Low Lamp and it's best calibrated mode / state.

The RS-MM will maintain all the brightness you'd need, while also enhancing the prevailing Black Levels.

Spraying will / would be best, but a very careful job of rolling can get you started.

If "careful" is not within your grasp when rolling (...nothing to be ashamed of...) then a simple, light Neutral Gray in the 8.0 Munsil Range can be rolled on by almost anyone. Almost.

Any "standard" neutral Gray...even a very light one, will always come in under 1.0 gain. RS-MaxxMudd is always "over"...with RS-MaxxMudd LL @ 1.3+

BTW, as to velvet length needed.

A 10' 2" diagonal screen is 107" "inside of width.

3 Yards = 108"

Of the Trim is Mitered at the corners, then you must add to the length of velvet required an amount equal to 2x the width of the trim.....minimum Usually on such a large sized screen, 3.25" MDF is the "Go To" material. So 3.2" x 2 = 6.4"

And, you need extra material "length-wise" to pull the material tight and them trim away the excess.

Short answer: You'll need 4 yards.

Actually, I'm going to pull back and tell you what you really need to do for a big screen is to go with RS-MaxxMudd LL. At 700 lumen output, and a screen of 122" diagonal, you really cannot afford to chance using any Paint that comes in under 1.0 gain.

That, and as your a Noob at this Screen painting business, RS-MaxxMudd will be / is more forgiving because it has a dual application potential. It can be either Rolled or Sprayed on.

I bought 3 yards for my 116" diagonal 16:9 screen with some leftover after wrapped all the frames. It's safe bet if you are buying 4 yards or more for your larger screen size
