Sure...Heres some pics of the build.
The majority of the cabinet is either 1/2" or 3/4" MDF.
I wanted to keep the "H" frame as inert as possible so
I decided to sand fill it between 2pcs of 1/2", then laminate over it.
The outside round is flex 3/16" plywood made of Italian poplar.
It just sounds expensive, it was only $50.
The inside round is 1/4" flex plywood. This stuff is incredible.
It has a thin layer of rubber between the plys...you can free bend
it to almost any shape you want......its was $50 as well, so $100 total
for the plywood veneer and I had a lot left over.
After the bottom cabinet was made the rest was easier to build.
The top baffle was just routered out and placed on top of the sub cab.
Gussets were made to hold the top baffle secure and all was glued and screwed
to hold in place. The void is where the x-over sits.
After that I made a back drop in piece for the binding posts. This is removable
its screwed from the bottom, in case I want to change or service any connections.
The finish was a desperation move. I wanted to get auto paint applied, but
just couldnt get anyone up here to do it.....the busy season up here.
So I thought I would try a faux finish, if I didnt like it I could always sand
it off in the spring and paint them then. Off to home depot, some paint,
glaze and a sea sponge later I was painting.....they turned out beautiful.
I'm keeping them the way they are. I applied a few coats of wipe on poly
to give them a bit of a sheen.
