Auto Detecting Aspect Ratio

I've been searching and haven't found what I'm looking for, but I must assume it exists (maybe lumagen?). I am looking for a device that will auto detect the aspect ratio of the source signal, apply appropriate action (vertically stretch or unstretch if it was last stretching), and simultaneously send a signal out via 12v trigger. I would then have the trigger signal connected to both my Cineslide and future electronic masking.

Does this exist? How many children must I sell to afford such a device, lol,? Thanks!

Lumagen has not implemented this feature yet, but they do say it is on their list of items to add.

Part of the issue with this is regular TV viewing. Some commercials are in the 2.40:1 aspect ratio, plus with video games often the game is in 16:9 while the cut scenes are in 2.40:1. In the instance of TV viewing, it would get pretty annoying if the lens were moving in and out for 60 second durations smile.gif

BTW, supposedly Optoma projectors have this feature already.

I would only be using it for movie viewing, but I understand your point. The sooner you guys get the Folded Space blu-rays on the market, the sooner my issue goes away and I won't need such a device. Hurry up! Lol

I wish Lumagen would hurry up and get this feature alreeady. They have been saying that they have been working on this for at least a year now. I too would love for this to happen.
