Should I return my Samsung 32" 720

I was deciding on which TV to get at Best Buy. The two TV's which were Samsung 32" LCD 720 and LG 32" LCD, I brought the Sansung LCD which $279, but I really wanted to get the LG because of the p 1080P advantage. I am only going to be using this TV for gaming and watching movies. The reason why I went with the Samsung 720P is because I thought that the LG brand wasn't better than Samsung.

Here is the LG LCD http://www.bestbuy.com/site/LG+-+32%26%2334%3B+Class+%2831-1/2%26%2334%3B+Diag.%29+-+LCD+-+1080p+-+60Hz+-+HDTV/4810998.p?id=1218532169886&skuId=4810998

Here is the Samsung LCD I currently own http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Samsung+-+32%26%2334%3B+Class+%2831-1/2%26%2334%3B+Diag.%29+-+LCD+-720p+-+60Hz+-+HDTV/2893174.p?id=1218361269835&skuId=2893174

I suggest you check out the threads on this forum for each of these models. It seems to me that the Samsung "D" is last year's model, although they may have carried it forward for this year, since it's an LCD. The first time an owner shows up in the thread will give you a clue. I also notice that there are 3 times the number of reviews at BB for this set. I also thought the LG was last year's model too. I don't know what difference that would make, however.

Samsung is the market leader in LCD/LED's and has more than twice the market share than LG, which comes in at 2nd, slightly ahead of Sony. So both sets are from good companies. Check out CNET or other online sites to see if they've been reviewed.

Check out both in the store to see which has a glossy or flat screen. Also look from the left and right for the better viewing angle. Finally, if you'll feel better with the higher resolution, the LG is only $50 more. Good luck

I viewed both Tv''s at BB and they both looked the same even though the LG is 1080P. I think the frames of the LG is different from the Samsung LCD by the thickness. I might return it

When you're there, look at the Samsung below. It definitely is this year's model. It's 32", 720p, and $279. I helped pick out and install one of these for a friend in October and it's very nice.

Do a google search on resolving pixels, and you'll probably find that, at 32", 720 and 1080 are pretty much the same if you're sitting back a few feet from the screen.

Since most games have a native resolution of 720p and most movies are filmed in 24p(and broadcast in 720p or 1080i) both games and movies have to be up scaled to 1080p when shown on an inexpensive 1080p which can cause a poorer quality image. If you mostly watch Blu-Ray movies or 1080i TV programs then I would recommend the 1080p LG as long as the price is not too much more.

I currently have an Samsung LCD 32" 720P, I am only going to be using it for gaming and video streaming, and for watching TV. http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Samsung+-+32%26%2334%3B+Class+%2831-1/2%26%2334%3B+Diag.%29+-+LCD+-720p+-+60Hz+-+HDTV/2893174.p?id=1218361269835&skuId=2893174

I want to know if it's worth paying another $50 more to get the LG 32" 1080P. I wonder if I connect an HDMI cable to the Samsung 720P and won't it have the same image display as the 1080P ?

If you play 1080p or 1080i content on a 720p fixed pixel TV the TV has to eliminate about 1/2 of the pixels in each frame which causes the picture to not be as detailed as it could be.

Are you suggesting to keep the 720p Samsung? The picture quality while it is in game mode is incredible clear with the HDMI cable connected. When I view the other HDMI input mode which cable TV for some channels it doesn't display on the full screen size, it has a squared box and the rest of the background is black?.

I bought the samsung and I am thinking about taking it back for the simple fact that it has no audio output jacks. We use OTA with an antenna on the roof and there is no way to connect our sound system to the TV when pulling in an OTA signal.

The fact that this tv has no audio output jack is not a problem for me because I am using a cable box and I have a HDMI hooked up. The only gesture I care about I'd the clear and sharpness of the picture quality and I want to know if this was worth it than the LCD LG 1080

Funny that's the exact TV that we took the Samsung back and bought. Initial impressions are good picture is very clear and the tv colors and look are extremely configurable. Sound is pretty good too. Compared to the much smaller samsung it is in a whole new class. It does not have as good of picture as my in laws Samsung 50 in plasma but that is kinda to be expected. I also prefer the menu layout on the LG.
