Do you think my server is in jeopardy?
Often freeware is bundled with junkware like internet toolbars or browser extensions that can usually be left out of the installation and sometimes not. I don't believe an installer would normally pass the windows security "are you sure you want to install this program" checkpoint and then be able to change your default settings without prompting you again, but I wouldn't be surprised. Also several people lower these as much as possible already
You can typically avoid these unwanted additions with 7zip if you open the exe and remove anything other than the specific program you installed. Or you can usually get by just using the custom install and checking each step as you go.
As to your snap.do comments?? I have more questions than anything
- You know how to uninstall IE correct? - not through the typical add/remove programs menu
- Never use IE Obviously required for some people in work environments, but should never be used personally unless you just enjoy being exploited
- When you say "It is also showing that [your] MSE is functioning correctly" what do you mean? What is showing you? If it's functioning in your system tray what makes you say it's disabled?
- Last/least without developing a good understanding of everything it is usually easiest just to go the system restore route, then make that your go to rather than 3rd party avsoftware
