Looks like a Heresy clone. but it's ported and has lpads for the tweeter and the mid range

I can have this pair for $175. worth the gamble?

Almost looks like Realistic to me. Where are the grills? I wouldn't spend that much on old, used speakers like this tho. I mean they have spring clip wire connections...

Close, but no cigar. The tweeters have a T35 look, but I'm pretty sure they're not T35s, and the midrange horn isn't an 8HD. The port is no more than half the diameter it should be, making the entire design suspect.

And the spacing between drivers is much wider than on the originals. which probably means that none of the tested crossovers cold be used unmodified.
no cigar it is.

thank you,Bill.

Depends on what $175 means to you. I wouldn't do it. $175 would be a good price for Heresys or equivalents. But they aren't Heresys or anything equivalent. Looks to me like they have $2 piezo tweeters, but it is hard to tell much from your photos. They definitely aren't T-35s. The squawer looks even more suspect. If you want Heresys, buy Heresys.

Might consider making an offer on the cabs if you like them and then start over.

That's moot in any event. Driver spacing wasn't considered back in PK's day, and for that matter the 8HD and T35 were both diffraction horns that should have been vertically aligned.

Heresy didn't used 8HD, but another EV design PWK picked up out of a waste basket IIRC. He knew how diffraction horns are normally mounted. But I think in the Heresy's case he would have said "it doesn't make a dime's worth of difference."
