I just upgraded my current system with a new motherboard (MSI Z77A-G45), CPU (Intel i3-3225), and memory (4GB G.Skill DDR3-1600). I wanted to integrate more internal tuners and my old motherboard didn't have enough PCI-e slots. The MSI has seven PCI-e slots so it should be able to handle whatever I want to install. I'm using a Kingston 128 GB SATA III SSD for the OS and a 1.5 TB WD drive for my recordings. The tuners include two Ceton InfiniTV4s, two Hauppauge WinTV-HVR-2250, and an AverTV Duet. I replaced the onboard Realtek LAN with an Intel EXPI3901CT PCI-e NIC. In addition, I've got a SD HDHomeRun Dual and a HDHomeRun Prime attached to my network and configured for WMC, giving me a total tuner count of 19. The HDHR tuners are mostly for sharing between other PCs but since they're available on the network I figured I'd just add them to the main HTPC as well, even though I really don't need them. Software consists mostly of the standard add-ons (Shark007 codecs, ShowAnalyzer, My Channel Logos, XBMC, and a few miscellaneous apps).
The weirdness sets in when I reboot the PC or start it from a powered-off condition. Instead of getting the usual POST screen or MSI splash screen, I get the Windows 7 "Shutting Down" screen that was displayed just prior to powering off. Since I don't get the usual POST screen, I have no way to access the BIOS setup screen (believe me, I've tried). I must have installed Windows 7 over 50 times by now and I've never seen anything like this before. As much as it pains me to do so, it looks like a complete reinstall is in my near future.

It's mentioned one time in the list of features in the front of the manual and nowhere else I could find. That solves a mystery I had during my initial install. I had placed the Intel NIC in slot 3 and one of the tuner cards in slot 4. I couldn't figure out why I had no network access and it was driving me nuts. I moved the card to another slot and left slot 3 vacant and it started working again. At least now I know why.
