What do you call a speaker that is not "bright"?

I know that sounds dumb but "bright" is the only bit of nomenclature I know. To me Klipsch is bright as is Energy. So when I find a speaker I like I don't know what to call its style. For example, I heard some MartinLogan speakers at best buy. Sounded great, not bright, is that "warm"?

I ask because I can't afford MartinLogan, but I might be able to find a speaker that has the same style as the ML. I actually found an open box for a ML but based on what their other speakers cost, I'd never be able to buy another one, so I figure I'll find something similar. Maybe they are overpriced anyway. I don't know.

Which Energy speakers did you listen to that you found bright? Certainly not the RC series.

"Neutral" would refer to a speaker that has few/smaller dips or peaks through the audible frequency range, and is likely what you're looking for. You may also like "warm" or "dark" speakers. See the Stereophile glossary of audio terms here:

Keeping in mind also that a speaker that sounds neutral, warm, or dark at the dealer might sound quite different when placed in your own listening room.

A warm speaker, that has a non-fatiguing sound signature, that won't break the bank is Sonus Faber Toy....http://www.sumikoaudio.net/sonus/prod_toy_tower.htm

I say "won't break the bank" not knowing what your price range is. But the Sonus Faber Toy speakers are being discounted at many places now.
