Hi AVS gods! this is my first post on AVS. I've been using this forum for all my computer hobby needs and i love the expert advice that seems to live here.
here is the skinny....
I have a HP a250n pc
Pentium 4 / 2.60 GHz with HyperThreading Technology
800 MHz front side bus
mPGA478
Chipset
865G
Ram (installed) 512 MB (2 x 256)
Maximum allowed 2 GB (4 x 512)
Speed supported PC2700 MB/sec
Type 184 pin, DDR SDRAM
I installed a new video card
GeForce 6200 256MB 64-bit DDR2 AGP
I also installed a pci wifi receiver
and I fresh custom installed Win xp home and pre stripped all the bloat (i.e. modem suport, games, accesiories, ect.)
Now What i'm trying to do..
I want a system that boots directly to a media front-end (seamless intergration with win xp) with the following capabilities:
1.) Netflix instant watch
2.) Hulu
3.) Pandora Radio
4.) Playback Music (mp3)
5.) Playback video
6.) Yahoo Mail
The Problems I'm having
My first thought was XBMC....I installed Eden version and loved the way it looked. Tried to install Netflix spript....didn't work. Tried to install pandora....didn't work. Hulu did work and I saw a yahoo mail script but never tried it. So i ruled out XBMC. (Why do so many ppl use XBMC?...did I give up on it too soon?)
Then after some google seaching I found something called Boxxe (i think) only to find out they stopped the desktop version 2 years ago. Bummer...built in Netflix and Hulu would have been a good fit.
Anyway now i'm stuck.....i need any help anyone will give me. Has anyone built a sytem simalar to what i'm trying to do? Is my old computer holding me back? I know set top boxes and barebone computers are cheap but i've only spent 45 bucks and was hoping this would work.
Insight! Please! Thanks in Advance!!
