Projectors don't work like that. You can't just take someones settings and expect the picture to look better. Apart from differentiating factory settings, things like screen fabric, screen color, screen gain, wall color, ceiling color, carpet color, and the amount of hours on a bulb all come into play and will all give the on screen image a different look which is why you should calibrate yourself or stay close to the factory settings as they are usually pretty close.

The constant color change ie bright to dark to bright when on certain sceens during movies is driving me nuts. I disagree with your comment, of course there are factors that effect the picture from one room to another that doesnt mean it wouldnt work with other projectors. I like to play with the setting and Ive had success using other peoples setting in the past.

I agree with Seegs here regarding sharing settings. I will say that I've managed to dial in something pleasing to my eyes using the disney wow disc and experimenting with different gamma curves and offsets if that's something you haven't tried yet.

As for your comment above regarding the constant color change 'ie dark to bright' - are you referring to the action of the dynamic iris? For me the dynamic iris is a little too visible and distracting on the 8600, and I ended up disabling it. This is something you may want to consider.
