Amish Mafia

crazy show.... but from the interwebs it looks like it's mostly 'a recreation of events'. After I saw the first episode I had to see if any of it was real or not.

I caught one epsisode of this show because I just had to see what this was about.

Since when is anyone afraid of the Amish? The whole idea of them having a "mafia" is absurd to me.

My wife and I did get a huge kick out of Merlin saying to one guy "**** a cow!"
What the hell does that even mean? LOL

I caught a little bit of this show the other day.

id like to see real mafia thugs come in and kill the 3-4 stooges and leave laughing.

I'm no expert on the Amish, but I am not sure if this "reality" series is actually....real.
It seems so far-fetched as to be unbelievable.

The series implies very strongly laws were broken, even to point of providing evidence.
Gotta wonder if some District Attorneys are readying indictments.

If you pause it at the end of the show, you will see a discalimer that says the stories are based off of amish legand, meaning they went out and got stories then put the "show" together.

Now, as far is is there an amish mafia, well I grew up in Ohio and all my neighbors were amish and I can tell you in watching the show that I havn't seen one thing on there that is false. When they talk about the various rules, how the church is structured etc, everything is accurate.

All Levi is is basically like an insurance agent. The Amish don't have insurance like you or I and they don't pay social security, so they are bascially self insured through the church. Levi is just the guy holding the money that eveyone pays into, this is also accurate of every Amish commiunity, they are all "church insured".

Therefore, one of the guys holding the money deciding to go rogue and take advantage isn't all that far fetched. i do know they had amish gangs where I lived, so to go from gang to mafia is just a name.

Also, the amish live in almost a cult community where they believe everything the bishop says, no questions asked. If there is something funny going on, they would never go to the police, they would go to the bishop, period. So if the Bishop would be in Levi's pocket, nobody would question it

I'm still trying to figure out why they made such a big deal about tatttoos and how if you got one you would be discommunicated. Then the Amish MMA fighter shows up all tatted out and Levi never once says a thing to him.

I have only caught snippets of the show, but I think the "Amish mma fighter" is Mennonite. Which allows him to drive vehicles and wear tats while the Amish can not.

Agreed. Ate dinner last night at Yoder's in Montezuma, Georgia. Outstanding food. And their baked goods are incredible. Love their coconut cream pie.
