Sell Original PS3 (40 GB) and get a new budget blu-ray player?

The kids got a new game system for Christmas. The PS3 is only used for blu-ray these days. Do I sell it on ebay for $150+ and get a new lower end blu-ray player or keep it til it dies? I don't really care about 3D so that's not a factor. Please provide a reason one way or the other. Thanks!

My old PS3 is noticeably faster, for Blu-ray loading and apps (i.e. Netflix) than my late-model Panasonic Blu-ray player.

I own a slim PS3 (not the super-slim) and from standby to loading the movie until the movie starts, it's much slower than using Sony BDP-S590. Also the Slim PS3 consumes 80w for BD playback whereas the standalone player is only around 30% of that.

I have a launch PS3 60 gig that I use to use for both gaming and blu ray viewing. Now that I have a Panasonic 310 I doubt I will ever use my PS3 for blu ray again. I don't see a reason to do so.
