Time for receiver upgrade !

Current receiver is the ONKYO TX-SR 308 (http://www.us.onkyo.com/model.cfm?m=TX-SR308&class=Receiver&p=i) , which is an entry level receiver, with no audyssey.

I was planning on upgrading to :

http://www.doneo.com.mt/Product.aspx?prodID=1803&MainID=25

or

http://www.doneo.com.mt/Product.aspx?prodID=1804&MainID=25

or

http://www.tiptopsports.com/electronics-details-300.htm

or

http://www.tiptopsports.com/electronics-details-412.htm

Want to change the receiver for speaker calibration. What benefits do i get over my current receiver? No distortion at higher volume ? Or higher sound ? (JAMO S608 5.1 SPEAKERS)

Thanks.

The new receiver will probably have more features, but the question is; do you want or need them?

Audessy can be useful if you have a messy acoustic environment to deal with, but is not always a great benefit.

I think you should think hard about exactly what is not satisfying about your system now.

The money might better be spent on better speakers.

Thanks.

All of those receivers (Onkyos) only have Audyssey 2EQ which only does level matching and distance, it doesn't do much eqing and does zero subwoofer eqing. If you can go with a receiver that has Multi EQ XT or higher.

You don't need to have a "messy" listening environment to realize the benefits of Audyssey. ALL rooms have problems with reflections (windows, tile floors, walls, ect) and all rooms have issues with bass booomyness caused by corners and rear walls.

While improvement in the mains isn't huge at least with my room. The corrections in the subwoofer freq range is great. Its almost like having a new subwoofer. XT32 has made my ported subwoofer sound like higher end sealed subwoofer. No more overhang, boomyness, the definition and "tighness" has drastically improved, impact and tactile response for movies is improved as well. Your best bet to get a higher end receiver but at a decent discount would be to find a authorized factory refurb dealer. Usually on the brands website like Onkyo. Usually you can get a year or two old high end model at the price of some budget models.

Im pretty satisfied with my speakers. Quality is very good but sometimes i watch blurays that the dialogue quality from thw center speaker is very poor and i have to turn the volume up, then when explosions take place, i need to lower it again. Certain movies like finding nemo 3d dolby was great. Every speaker sounded amazing.
