Ive read much disagreement on this but my thought it that it should be fine due to low power and high impedance but I'm not a expert.
I want to connect a single speaker in a bathroom that was prewired with a single 16/2 cable connected to a impedance matching wall mounted volume control. the obvious issue is the stereo L/R of most sources could eliminate some content if only a single L or R is used.
I would like to avoid buying any specialized equipment but I don't want to damage anything.
I was going to either use one y cable to combine the the L/R line level source output to a single rca and just plug that into either the left or right input into the amp and then use the same speaker level output to the speaker. the other option is to connect the first "y" cable to a second "y " to split the signal back to 2 mono line level inputs and plug that into the amp however I was concerned about just having one speaker hooked up.
I cant use a duel coil speaker with L/R connections because the ceiling has very limited clearance and I only have one 16/2 speaker cable.
what is the best way to proceed ?
