Bookshelf speakers to TV?

Thread Starter

I wanted to get some bookshelf speakers to connect to my TV but I am not sure how to do so.

I've seen the Yamaha NSBP300 but the connections are banana plugs.

Do I need to buy an amplifier to connect these to my TV or can I buy an adapter?

If I need to buy an amplifier can you please recommend me some.

These speakers are around £60 and my budget is £110 total.

Here's a link to the speakers

Thanks for reading, any advice is greatly appreciated

Those are passive speakers. You will need an amplifier (or integrated amp, or avr) to power them.

Hi s210, and welcome to the forum.

Those are very nice speakers. I'm from the US and looked up the dollar verses the British
Pound. I thought a British pound was about 2 dollars, but according to conversion tables,
one dollar equals .62 of a pound. So a pound is $1.62? Correct me if I'm wrong.
I think I am.

Anyways you will need a stereo receiver to power the speakers, as the amp in the
TV is for the TV speakers and doesn't have the power to drive those speakers.
Look for a stereo receiver in your price range at.....http://www.amazon.co.uk/

These might be in your price range....http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_ss_i_0_9?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=stereo+receiver&sprefix=stereo+re%2Caps%2C356

If I am right about the conversion, you will have to increase your budget by about 20 US dollars to buy the $100 stereo Sherwood shown.
