Is xt32 worth 300$!

Hi everyone. I am stuck between the onkyo 809 (457.00) and the onkyo 818 (779.00) I really want the xt32 audyssey but is it really worth the extra $$?

To me, yes. It equalizes the sub(s) better and can optimize two subs separately.

Definitely yes. smile.gif

Thanks guys!

The 818's version of XT32 lacks SubEQ HT and isn't able to optimize two subs separately, it will only do one. To the OP yes it's worth the extra $.

Yes it equalizes's one sub and yes it is better than no EQ. However if you have 2 subs or plan to get a second sub in the near future then XT32+SubEQ is worth it.

Otherwise just get XT32 because if you decide to add another sub or get a new pair of subs say in 3+ years there will be a cheaper better receiver or maybe "XT64" for example by then.

Also yes and potentially "4x" better.

no I had the 818 sold it because I still don't like audyssey st32 more than just uneq' d sound in my untreated room.

I'm very happy with my Denon 4311 and XT32. I owned several Onkyos with XT and XT32 is well worth the additional cost IMO.

I have a deno 3311 which has audessey xt and also an onkyo with audessey 2eq and honestly i have to say i dont noticed any difference at all. I ran audessey on both receivers using same Speakers, same sub, same room and for me audessey is just "excellent on papers" but in real life are pretty much the same. Cant say nothing about xt32;

On the Onkyo the sub is tighter than the denon and on the onkyo I can hear better details from surrounds than with the denon!!

I appreciate the responses! I ended up grabbing the 809 with XT because it was now a 450$ difference in price. I notivce a BIG difference with the XT from multiEQ. I am sure I would hear a difference with xt32, but I would rather put that 400 to an external amp or Oppo blu-ray

tongue.gif I bought Archaea's 818 because I wanted to go from XT to XT32. Yes, it makes a difference. $300 worth of difference??? That I couldn't tell you.
