Home Theater Proposal - Are their recommendations good?

I am setting up a home theater and had a company come out for a consultation. My room is 12x10 and expands to 15x20 in the back

Below is what they have recommended. I am not an expert in this field and any advice on the quality of this system would be appreciated.

1 - logitech - harmony touch15-device universal remote
1 - sc-55 elite a/v receiver (i bought this on clearance for$750)
1 - vp1-b1 sanus - visionmount projector mount - black
1 - audioquest - forest 39.4' hdmi cable - platinum white
7 - aim8two speakercraft - 8" 125w pivoting in-ceilingspeaker (each)
2 - speakercraft - mt series 6-1/2" 120w in-wallspeakers
1 -bowers and wilkins - 5" 2-way center-channel speaker - black ash vinyl or martinlogan- motion 8 4" center-channel speaker - piano black[/color]
1 - sw-450 klipsch - 10" 450w powered subwoofer
1 - bdps790 sony - smart 3d wi-fi built-in blu-ray player
1 - subx4.5m audioquest - sub-x 14-3/4' subwoofer cable
2 - hdmiforest audioquest - forest 3-2/7' in-wall hdmi cable
1 - mr4000 panamax - 8-outlet surge protector
1 - md2-c panamax - 2-outlet surge protector - white
5- rf-g1190 rocketfish - speaker cable banana plugs (4-pack) - red/black

1 - vpl-hw50 sony - home cinema projector

If you don't know any better, you will love your system, if installed well.

If you want to become an AV geek, and read online for a couple hundred hours, there are a few things you might consider changing. If you stop researching now, you will avoid spending more money. Seriously.

Thanks for your feedback.

One question: What do you feel about the aim8two speakercraft - 8" 125w pivoting in-ceilingspeakers? Are these good speakers? This is a big chunk of my budget.

Not a fan AT ALL of using in-ceiling speakers for front L/C/R channels. And all three should be from the same manufacturer / family so that they sound consistent across the front soundstage. Can't give better advice without knowing what room constraints you're working with.

EDIT: Can't tell which of those speakers you're using for fronts and surrounds. I guess maybe the in-walls are for the front? That's better, but I'd still like to see all three LCR's from the same company. If you're using the in-ceilings for surround and you're concerned about price - those should be the cheapest speakers in the whole batch - the surround channels are the least critical in terms of sound quality.

But as Neurorad suggested - either be prepared to get deep into this, or take their advice. The gear they're suggesting is all good quality stuff - the cabling will be overpriced, but that goes with the territory of having a full installation done. In any case, request that they use the cheapest wires they'll sell. Exception is the long HDMI cable - that should be a quality cable, but it still shouldn't cost >$100 really...

At a minimum, I'd ask the installer to price out in-wall speakers for the L-C-R.

Personally, I'd splurge on the JVC projector. Do as much reading as you can about each projector, here on AVS, before deciding.

You have a really basic, budget install. And it will be awesome. Spending more on equipment will not get you a better result, without pulling out drywall and doing some serious acoustic treatments.

Talk to the installer about what he would reccomend in 10 years, when you upgrade. Something to think about, while you're enjoying movie nights, until then.

I would get a matching in wall center and I would scale back to a 7.1 or 5.1 system if you're concerned about the costs of the in ceiling speakers.

Looks like a pretty good setup otherwise.

Look at the acoustics and other variables that will impact the sound. Have an easily accessible rack set up for the equipment. You may also want to speak with a couple of other companies. Do a lot of reading on this site and elsewhere.

Are there special requirments in terms of electric?

Do I need a dedicated line for my system? If so, 15amp or 20amp?

Just to add that the Sony VW30ES and the JVC X30 are old models that have been replaced (though some may still be around). Given that the JVC X30 had known issues with the lamp dimming that the replacement X35 (RS46) seems to have resolved then it would make sense to go for the newer option. Likewise the Sony VW50ES is the newer Sony model with extra brightness and contrast, plus the reality creation effect for sharper pictures.

I can't help regarding the Epson, but chances are it's an older one as well.

I did not become an AV geek but I might be on my way. I have spent 200 hours (plus) reading through many of the AVS forums. I have purchased a few items and I am still researching a few more. Here is what I have so far.

Pioneer - SC55
Black Diamond Zero Edge 115" Screen with light kit.

Ordering:
Sony HW50 Projector
Dual PB12-NSDs or PC12-NSDs (I like the ported sub my wife likes the cylinders)

Looking for recommendations to complete my 9.1 system:

Front Left & Right speakers can be towers or wall.
Center needs to be in room speaker
Front heights most likely will need to be walls.

Surround Speakers need to be ceiling speakers.

My speaker budget is approximately $2500 but I will go higher if needed.

My room is approximately 3400 cubic Ft.
