Toshiba 52hm84 lamp problem

My Toshiba DLP RPTV blew a lamp. I put in a new one that came on, worked for a few days, then nothing. I took it out, dusted the contacts and put it back in. Most times it didn't work, but about 1 out of 5 times, it did... but then did not come back on again when I tried it.

I had another one on order and put it in, but this one doesn't light up either.

The fan near the lamp does comes on. Any one have this same problem ? I love this TV and would like to keep it.

Any chance there is a defect in the circuit that powers the lamp. I saw "inards" instructions for other brands of RPTVs here, but not for Toshibas...???

Anyone know where I can get some info / suggestions ??

Start by searching the internet for a service manual that will have a basic troubleshooting flowchart. Should be able to get one for free if you look long enough.

Thanks for the idea. With the pattern I'm getting on the front LED lights, the manual simply states that "the lamp doesn't work". Only problem is... is that the lamp does work. As stated, it came on a few times and I've now put in a brand new one.

Basically, the TV tells me the lamp isn't good, but I know it to be good...

The manual doesn't go any further. Any suggestions for the next step appreciated.

Is it a Toshiba lamp or aftermarket? The Toshiba's are picky on lamps.
Other main possiblility is the ballast board, there are threads on here on repairing them.

One is, one isn't.

I don't know what the "ballast" board is, but I'll do some research.
