strange grainy pixelation glitter on Samsung LCD

Kids were watching their show today and I noticed this weird grainy, glittery, sandy, pixelation effect going on. Its as if the discolored pixels were moving like magnetic sand. When the picture would change, the grains would change. I attached a picture of it here. You can see it especially on the green background where it appears yellowish. Any idea what this is? Interference? A sign that the panel is going bad? Is it repairable? Any ideas? It seems to only happen after the TV has been on for a while so maybe something is heating up and is a sign of what's to come.

My daughter has a Samsung (it's about 3 years old and I don't recal the model right now). She has a similar issue but the left side of her panel has a distorted color and picture to it. Opposite of your problem, but it goes away after the tv has heated up a bit. If she presses on the bezel in the corners, she can change the distortion pattern so that it goes away. It's as if something has come loose on the panel and if you press on it, it makes contact and goes away, or, after it heats up, the expansion makes contact and the picture is fine. Her tv is out of warranty so she just deals with it until it warms up and goes away.

Might be a bad HDMI cable (try fiddling with it or change cables).

Thanks for the response. I'm not sure its a bad cable since i witnessed the problem while watching cable TV as well as the PS3, both of which have their own HDMI cable going to the TV. However, next time i see this happen, i'll jiggle the cables to make sure.
