~$20 a piece difference is a lot to me when I have a family of five and would like to have a couple of spares for visitors.

well if your buying one at a time sure, but the more you buy the lower the price is with TD just like Monoprice but in this case it comes down to a matter of like $5 difference give or take for each pair once you order 6 or more, so yeah $30 difference roughly for 6 pairs I suppose can be a lot but I think customer service and the ability to cross ship and so forth is worth it.

But if your only buying 1 or 2 at a time then yeah the monoprice does end up being a big difference in price.

I don't see the price break for multiple pairs. I'm on the TD website, if I add 6 pairs to my cart the unit cost is the same as buying one, 64.99 each.

nah you have to contact them directly and they tend to give you a discount that way, it sorta varies depending on where your buying from.

Using the 3D menus(page 38 of you 1070 manual)
1. Press the MENU/EXIT and go to the Display > 3D menu and press MODE/ENTER. Or you can
press the 3D Setting button on the remote control. The 3D page displays.
2. Highlight 3D Mode and press MODE/ENTER. The 3D Mode page displays.
3. Press / to highlight the 3D format that you need and press MODE/ENTER. The projector
automatically detects the format of the video when selecting Auto. If not, you need to base on the
3D format of the video to make an appropriate setting in the 3D Mode menu

3D (page 40of your manual)
3D Mode
Auto/Off/Frame Sequential/Frame Packing/
Top-Bottom/Side-by-Side

so depending on how you have you game showing on your screen when you play 2 people , weather it is top and bottom or side by side for 2 players. Then pick that option in 3D mode such as top-bottom or side by side for your 3D out put to the projector and then use the True Depth glasses that have the right and left eye feature set one pair to left eye only for player one the other pair to right eye only for player 2 and that should work for you.

Hi There,

I am following this thread but have not seen these mentioned here
http://cgi.ebay.de/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=160976854181&fromMakeTrack=true&ssPageName=VIP:watchlink:top:de#ht_3805wt_1377
I saw them on a Swedish forum smile.gif And wanted to know if anyone here has tested them as well. I would really like to get the true depth but posting to Europe is high, and also a big chance for customs etc frown.gif So I am looking for great value glasses from EU smile.gif

When talking about the TrueDepth glasses, I see "Left eye or right eye only". Can you explain just a bit about this? Do the glasses blank out one side so that only one lens is allowed to see through? Or do both lens shutter together so that a 2D image is seen for both eyes?

they shutter together so that you either only see the left image being sent or only the right image being sent thus giving the effect that your seeing two different screens

Definitely contact them directly and ask for a discount on multiple pairs. I did this recently and was told, based on quantity, the more you buy the more you can save. I agree with others that every little bit adds up when you have 4 to 6 or more glasses to buy. That's why I was shopping around after I saw BenQ's prices, hoping to save some money. And the fact that True Depth will discount on multiple pairs caught my attention right away.

But even after the savings, if True Depth glasses were still a bit more than some other brands, the peace of mind with their 1 year warranty and top customer support I think is something to be sure to consider. They also seem to be very proactive when it comes to updating, improvements and addressing issues. This thread has certainly proven that.

I had some friends over last night to look at the W1070 in 3D and they all agreed this was the first time they have seen 3D in someones home, that looked as close to what the theater brings. The field of vision with a huge projection screen plays a big role too, but even standing very close to my 55" LCD 3D TV, it never came as close to 3D as my new setup does. I'm in love with it smile.gif

Home 3D with a DLP projector is much better than anything a theater can show with their horrible stereo ghosting...

3DTV corp recently sent me another kids model to replace the first pair they sent that didn't work at 144hz. The Model # is DLPRKG and I can confirm that they are working and my kid likes them.

Has anyone compared an active 3D DLP to an active 3D LCD projector solution yet. I'm wondering if the crosstalk is reduced in DLP, as response time is not a matter for the DMD, just for the LCD in the glasses. I've seen the Epson TW6000 (LCD) and really noticed some disappointing crosstalk in high contrast scenes. Anyone experience in that? THX.

Isn't this thread about glasses??

Perhaps it would be better to ask this question in the W1080 projector thread.

Hi guys,

New to the forum after spending hours reading all the posts. Tomorrow i'll recieve my optoma HD131x, with 144hz dlp link. Should be a right competitor for the w1070! I went on searching for the 3dtv glasses. According to the reviews it's probably the best buy (price/quality). It costs a fortune to send them to Holland.

I found these on ebay. Compared the pictures with the latest 3dtv model. 3dtv is red, but everything else is exactly the same... almost free shipping world wide!

Any experience on these glasses?

Not sure might have to try and let the rest of us know BUT I do like how the charging part is at the bottom of the nose bridge, I could make some cool stands that hold the glasses while charging them at the same time ^_^ with out having to connect and disconnect a cable each time... man I hope someone does review these and gives great feedback ^_^

Hi!

I have this glasses!
They work just fine with w1070, no lose sync, no red tint.
Only problem for me is that the lences are a bit tiny compared to the other glasses. And it "sits" a little high on my nose.. maybe I1ve got too big smile.gif
But they are very cheap, and lightwieht.
To Hungary (where I live) the shipping was free!

It appears these (DLP Pro 4g) are an upgraded version (DLP Pro 3G) of what monoprice is selling.

I believe they are the same design released late last year. I do not think there are many designs out there. Every pair of DLP link glasses has a programmable TI chip and boutique companies like True Depth can tweek basic designs to create their own. Field Rate of 96-480 Hz is referring to the shutter speed. Someone confirmed they worked with the 1070 on the amazon.ca site. I never heard of HB Optoelectronics till yesterday but, it appears a lot of distributors are using the same stock images.

how about you buy them and tell us how they work out instead of expecting someone else to spend the money to find out for you? unless you dont have a projector yet?
Hmm. I haven't read all of the thread BTW. It's pretty long lol. But I'm just confused why different 3D glasses would have different image quality. I have seen pics of glasses having different coloured lenses like blue and yellow, which is a little wierd I think.

If you don't know why some glasses are blue/yellow and red/blue and all one colour then you really DO need to read a LOT more. I will give you a start: with this and similar D-Link DLP projectors we are using passive 3d glasses, there you go! Google 3d glasses and read on.

Great, bye.

Now we will only have to deal with genuine users and interested parties and not freeloaders.

Thanks to all who have bothered to give feed back on the glasses they have purchased.

I have just received glasses from China, I decided to get some cheap ones for guests/kids. They are from ebay (same people who sell the Sainsonic ):

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/144Hz-3D-DLP-Link-IR-Active-Shutter-Glasses-For-Acer-BenQ-Optoma-ViewSonic-DELL-/130837614086?pt=AU_3D_Glasses&hash=item1e76878e06

The header says 144Hz but the description says 120Hz. I can confirm that they have updated the glasses and they do work with the W1070 and other 144HZ projectors. They have relatively small lenses but they cover the viewing area okay. No loss of signal.

Additionally I purchased the following from consignia-canada via ebay (cheaper than direct) :

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/130827722094?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649

They have larger lenses and work well with the W1070. They are no better or worst than the cheaper ones but they are a little more comfortable for me. They sit better on your nose. No loss of signal.

Well, just to add to other folks' comments and perhaps to help someone out in their choice of 3D glasses to go with their w1070...

I've been using the Sainsonic glasses now (bought them on UK ebay from 'nextbigthink' seller) for a few weeks and my personal experience is:

- really pleased with them given the low price
- I've got 4 pairs of the Sainsonics and the red flash is blocked out by all pairs. Without the glasses on I can absolutely see the red on the screen, but as soon as the glasses are on the red is completely gone.
- I do feel the glasses getting uncomfortable above the top of my ears and around the bridge of my nose after an hour or so, but in saying that I've probably got an above average head size!
- I've not had any issues with any pairs of the glasses losing sync (I'm watching a 120" screen from about 14ft away, so maybe that's helping?)
- Yes the plastic on them feels a bit cheap, but not a big deal when taking the price into consideration
- Charged them up for 2 or 3 hours when I got them and after about, say, 15 hours use they're still going strong

If I was watching 3D on my w1070 more than I do (1 or 2 movies a week at the moment, a bit of 3D football, an hour or 2 of PS3 gaming) I'd probably buy the official BenQ glasses or perhaps the TrueDepths due to the comfort issue. I'm happy with the picture quality from the Sainsonics but I've not tried any other brands to be fair. Certainly from a comfort point of view alone I'm thinking of buying a pair of the True Depths as they appear to have softer plastic on the arms, but not sure it's worth it given the limited 3D viewing I do. In saying that, if the picture quality is better than the Sainsonics, which other folks seem to think it is, then the BenQ or True Depths seem to be the best choice all round if you're willing to spend the extra cash.

Regards the w1070 / Sainsonic general 3D experience. To my eyes the 3D is really impressive, particularly from blu-ray e.g. Madagscar 3 and Tangled have some great wow 'pop out' moments (if that's what you're into) and no crosstalk that I've seen. Gaming is great fun - Motorstorm Apocalypse 3D is brilliant - the Skyline course racing across the rooftops is impressive and really immersive, but I can only take half an hour or so before the eye strain (and adrenalin probably!) means I'm not enjoying it so much. I'm getting old!
Sky TV 3D is enjoyable too but you can tell the difference from blu-ray, just not as sharp and vibrant (reading other posts it seems this is due to loss of resolution in the 3D format that Sky use).
