Is the Avatar movie being played-back with the same 3D player as the other movies that have no flickering? Are you using a PC? Trying playing back with another player to rule out the source. Also, are the glasses charged up?

Based on one or more of the post in this thread (I read it end-to-end when I found it), I purchased four pair of the 3DTV Corp new super light weight rechargable 144Hz DLP-Link glasses (DLPRW) to go with my recently purchased BenQ W1070 and high contrast gray screen for a family room set-up in ambient light conditions. This is my first experience with a projector and home 3D. For me this is being a 'blown away' experience with movie #1, The Rise of the Guardians. No issues with the glasses so far, and they fit well over prescription glasses. I am so glad that I found this thread and heard about the fact that I needed to be very selective about the glasses to use with this awesome projector. I purchased these as 'cheap starter' glasses with a plan to buy some BenQ D3's later and use these for the guests, but, at this point, I think we'll all have these.

Thanks all for the insights and direction that your comments have provided. We'll see what happens as more 3D movies are viewed and I'll pass on any of the bad.

Ordered a set of the newest generation SainSonic glasses for $25 shipped from China.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/261173719349?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649

Will test them out on Avengers later on this week. A few pluses I noticed over the 4th gen Hi-Shock models are they fit further away from face, which might help the two in my family with Rx glasses. And they use the standard microusb to charger that most cell phones use these days. The Hi-Shock models uses something a lot smaller than microusb. Also the box they came in is reusable for safe storage.

Hi all.

Just bought the W1070, my first projector. Brilliant for the price.

So I'm looking to buy a few cheap 3D glasses to see how the PS3 does 3D. I must say I'm confused by the choices provided by the eBay sellers. these are the ones I'm considering:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/SainSonic-144Hz-3D-DLP-Link-Ready-Universal-Rechargeable-Active-Shutter-Glasses-/261081952803?pt=AU_3D_Glasses&hash=item3cc9b27223

http://www.ebay.com/itm/2x-SainSonic-144Hz-tech-BenQ-3D-DLP-Link-Rechargeable-Active-Shutter-Glasses-/261081978411?pt=AU_3D_Glasses&hash=item3cc9b2d62b

http://www.ebay.com/itm/2x-SainSonic-144Hz-tech-BenQ-3D-DLP-Link-Rechargeable-Active-Shutter-Glasses-/261081978411?pt=AU_3D_Glasses&hash=item3cc9b2d62b

They all look the same, don't they?

However, s/he doesn't ship this to my location:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/261173719349?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649#shId

Then there is this seller:

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/New-3D-DLP-Link-Glasses-BenQ-TS500-TS5275-W626-W700-W710ST-W1070-Projector-/310612893962?pt=US_Video_Glasses&hash=item4851f8a10a

Who also sell these:

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/144Hz-3D-IR-Active-Shutter-Glasses-For-BenQ-W1070-W700-W710ST-DLP-Link-Projector-/130859096852?pt=US_Video_Glasses&hash=item1e77cf5b14&clk_rvr_id=460130756522

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Only-30g-4x144Hz-3D-DLP-Link-Universal-Rechargeable-IR-Active-Shutter-Glasses-/130837560875?pt=AU_3D_Glasses&hash=item1e7686be2b

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/2X-New-144Hz-Tech-BenQ-Optoma-Sharp-Acer-Dell-3D-DLP-Link-Projector-Glasses-/281071032288?pt=US_Video_Glasses&hash=item41712397e0

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/3D-DLP-Link-Glasses-Optoma-BenQ-Acer-Viewsonic-Vivitek-Dell-Projector-TV-NEW-/130859919939?pt=US_Video_Glasses&hash=item1e77dbea43

Are those advertised by the later seller the same as the SainSonic, except without the branding name?

Thanks for any advices.

guys, could you give your top 5 3d movie pick ? i need to test my new setup properly

I've seen a few movies lately and noticed how hard it is to focus sometimes, i learned from this article that the movie is to blame http://www.eugenewei.com/blog/2012/12/20/3d-and-deep-focus

is that true? I'd like to try movies where i can focus freely anywhere, i hate to be stuck on one spot to see the image clearly (like i experienced with the "IMAX.Grand.Canyon.Adventure.River.at.Risk" movie, it was very bad

What do you guys think of these glasses, the guy is stating a lot of info about them being the BenQ D3 when clearly they are not so I wonder what the seller is trying to pull?

Also anyone having issues getting TrueDepth website to load properly?

I have 2 different ones of these latter types and they perform identically! Same specifications but differences in the frames and shapes only. So they will all work. But they will fir on your face differently. I prefer the ones with side frames i.e.not just thin arms as they block out any light coming in the sides. Also I like the moulded nose piece (part of the frame) rather than the 'V' type plastic wedge type as they are more comfortable for me. It is a personal thing. See my earlier postings.

I bit the bullet and bought 2, one from each seller: They are on their way and hopefully I can report back in 2 weeks' time.

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/New-3D-DLP-Link-Glasses-BenQ-TS500-TS5275-W626-W700-W710ST-W1070-Projector-/310612893962?pt=US_Video_Glasses&hash=item4851f8a10a&clk_rvr_id=460686843246

and this:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/SainSonic-144Hz-3D-DLP-Link-Ready-Universal-Rechargeable-Active-Shutter-Glasses-/261081952803?pt=AU_3D_Glasses&hash=item3cc9b27223

Most of the SainSonic glasses are advertised as having longer battery life, ~50 hours. Is that true or just advertising mumbo-jumbo? Why I ask? Many of the glasses offered by the first seller do look quite like the SainSonics of the second (some have speculated that they are usually made in the same factory), yet they are advertised as having shorter operating battery life, ~35 hours. Is that true?
I just received The 3D active new version DLP glasses from Dimensional Optics. The price is 2 pairs for $99.95. They are the same as the True Depth but come with nice cases and with USB power adapters included. I compared them to the Benq, Okba & Sansonic glasses and I like them the best. The quality is very good and the block the red flash and do not seem to drop sync with the Benq 1070. The picture quality is similar to Benq's new glasses. Much better at blocking red flash than Okba and Sansonic. They feel like a quality product with the cases and adapters as a bonus.

Hi guys

Thanks for the great information provided in this thread.

I have had my 1070 for about a month now. I am very pleased with the 3D but I have started to notice some blurring on any panning or motion scenes and I am hoping that this isn't normal. Is this crosstalk or is it simply blurred due to the speed of the camera movement? Or could it be down to other factors?

I am watching almost all of my 3D content in 1080i/50 which is what SKY UK broadcasts. Is the blurring down to the quality of my glasses? They are cheap Sainsonics which seem fine for depth of field in 'still' scenes but are hopeless with motion. Can any UK members let me have their experiences of SKY 3D please?

I am willing to buy some Truedepths from the US (if still not available in the UK) if I can be certain that they will stop the blurred vision.

Any help will be gratefully received!

Thanks
shaft65.

Welcome to the forum!

Sounds like to me the "blurring" is source-related. With 3D blurays (at 1080p/24Hz), even the Sainsonics produce very smooth camera pans at 144Hz. Since you're using 1080i/50Hz I believe the W1070 is sending 100Hz DLP-link signal to the glasses, this may attribute to the lack of smoothness but I doubt it would cause "blurring". Can you try some 1080p/24Hz materials?

Both look like SainSonic's. They are known to suck. Blacks are reddish and white are yellowish, making contrast absolutely terrible.

Hi kelvink

Thanks for the welcome and your reply. Unfortunately I don't have any hardware capable of playing 3D content at that resolution/frequency. Although, your reply gives me an excuse to buy a shiny new player. Even better, I can point my girlfriend to your post as she is trying to part my head from my body when I bring it home! She wasn't too keen on a 3D projector biggrin.gif

When I'm sorted, I'll post my findings.

Thanks

No they were terrible. I was going to attempt post a youtube video shot through one side of both images, but I have not had time. I did take an images of each with my cell phone of Life of Pi credits. Saisonic on the left and hi-shock on the right.

Switching back and forth the projected images was pretty drastic. The Saisonic colors were washed out, low constrast and all blacks looked reddish brown. And even though I only skipped through a few scenes of the movie, I did notice it lose sync for a few frames.

I have one more cheap pair on the way from China to try out.

They look very similar to what 3dcorp is using for their latest generation glasses.

I think if you drop them a line and pay with paypal they might ship them to you.

I just found another alternative that work just as well and are very comfortable.

These work as well as the Benq's and cost $58 for two pairs. They also block the red flash and support 144k.

Amazon sells them in the US.

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004G2VJM6/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Compared to the Sansonic or OKBA these glasses block the red flash much better. The 3dTV corp ones are a great buy since they are no more expensive than the Sansonic ones and are so much better.
They are not rechargeable but in some ways this is even better since they use the low cost 2032 batteries which last a long time. I have had rechargeable pairs go bad and I could not change the batteries.

If you have a problem getting either pairs drop me a PM.
I think the motion of this DLP is very much a draw with plasmas 100%

I'd imagine this applies to all DLPs as they all use Texas Instruments DMD chips. Just my guess...

NO!

If you checked their glasses only listings you will find this comment 'THE TRUE DEPTH 3D GLASSES WILL ONLY WORK AT 60Hz OR 120Hz. '

So it would appear these are the old TD models which could explain the lower cost.
