I need help in deciding - I have def tech for all speakers including sub - espson 8500 ub - my current receiver is Onkyo ds777 (pretty old) would like to upgrade - seen onkyo for $350 with a lot of features or denon 23xx (no thx and fewer features) ... it'll be mostly for movies - set up in a Home theater room --- any advice is highly appreciated. also if anybody have a great working receiver that has hdmi connection (audio and video) that's for sale I may be interested - pioneer elite, denon... I'll consider onkyo but it seems like a lot of you guys are having problem with it.... anyway pls help thanks!

The 616 uses the most basic version of Audyssey 2EQ which cannot EQ the sub and has 16x fewer speaker EQ control points than MultEQ XT used in the 2313CI. Choose Onkyo for features and Denon for better audio quality.

The Denon 23xx has one very important feature over the Onkyo NR616....Audyssey MultEQ XT room calibration.

Way more important than THX certification and does a better job cailbrating your system to your room than Audyssey 2EQ on the NR616. It also EQ's the subwoofer which Audyssey 2EQ does not do at all.
