Need Sub and Center speaker recommendations to go w/ my Yamaha RX-V473 and Polk Monitor 70 Series...

Hi I am new to the game here as far as home audio systems. I spent a few days researching these forums which led me to my decision to get the Yamaha RX-473 and the Polk Monitor 70 Series 2 floorstanding speakers (got a steal on Newegg).

The next step is to add a center speaker and sub. I will wait to add the surround speakers for a couple months.

Any suggestions would help. I am not interested in cheap speakers but don't want to spend a fortune while getting some solid speakers that I can be proud of and will last a long time. I hope to spend around $300-$400 for both speakers. $300 would be great.

My initial thoughts were to go with a Polk CS2 Series II Center and Polk PSW10 or PSW505 Sub to keep it in the Polk family but maybe there are some better options too.

Any help/recommendations for both a new sub woofer and a center speaker that would go well with my current setup would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

The CS2 center would be the right speaker for your 70's. The PSW505 on sale for under $200 would put you at 3 bills. A better sub when on sale at newegg would be the Klipsch RW-12D at 3 bills putting you at your max of $400.
The CS2 might be on sale now.

Well, the CS2 price went up from $99. Only the cherry is on sale for $110.

The CS2 is available for $99 after a $50 instant rebate at newegg until tomorrow. So I can still get it for that price (the black one).

Go for it. It's the perfect match for the 70's and a great CC especially for the price. I'd wait for the Kilpsch to go on sale if you have the patience. Don't get the PSW10, it hardly qualifies as a subwoofer.

Great it has been ordered. Thank you for your help. If anyone else has any recommendations for a sub I would love to hear them but that Klipsch RW-12D seems to get great reviews.

Get 2 Polk 505's from amazon. I have 2 of these and 2 rw12d's in the same room. They both perform about the same in my room - very good!!
