Speaker setup

Ok we are looking at upgrading from our sound bar to a full blown surround sound system. When I say we,I really mean me because my wife has no idea.

We have a wall mounted 60inch tv as shown in my crude sketch with a sectional placed approximately 10ft away. What would be the ideal placement of speakers in my setup.knowing that I am fully fine with mounting speakers from the ceiling a4apaqyj.jpg

Frankly the layout of the room and furniture is not surround sound friendly. I would put the surrounds in the ceiling.

You could pull the sectional into the middle of the room and place surrounds behind the sofa.

My initial idea was to mount the front speakers so they are facing at an angle towards the center of the couch and then in ceiling mount rear speakers at each end of the couch. For this setup I would really make sure to get awesome quality center and front speakers

I'd pair a couple in-ceiling rears, with a better soundbar (to cover the front L-C-R), and a subwoofer.

And, I'd move my seat to the other part of the sectional that's less worn out.

And, you'll need a receiver, for 5.1.

How do you setup a 5.1 receiver using a sound bar is it possible?
