I want a 7.something networking receiver mainly focused on sound quality
Right now I have the Pioneer FS-51LR package speakers (6ohm) but I'll get something better down the road my HK AVR 354 is crapping out, and only has 3 HDMI inputs, so this is the first thing that needs done.
I want sound quality and to play fairly loud, my 354 seems to sound good but it is the only REAL avr I have listened to besides 2.0 and all-in-one stuff and the Sony STR-DN1030 I tried out.
I want 7.1, assignable inputs, at least a unpowered second zone out but if it has powered outs they need to be extra not just the back channels of the 7.1, so I guess I want a 9.1 channel receiver but I'm only going to go up to 7.1 with blurays. I also want stand by HDMI pass through, iPod or phone control, Air Play, Bluetooth, wifi is nice but I'm right next to my router so not a need and a front HDMI input.
Also I want a good menu system that comes up transparent over whats going on so you can see/hear the adjustments and more than just the regular 2 band EQ, the more the better, pre-outs would be nice too.
I'm trying to get into the upper end like Pioneer Elite VSX-42 or VSX 60, Yamaha advantage or anthem or something but there low end stuff seems to skimp on stuff that more expensive AVR's in there regular line have.
The only ones I have found are the VSX-1122-k and VSX 60, I don't think that the 1022 or VSX 42 have assignable inputs. Do the SC-61 and up have iPod/phone control? What do you get with the 63 and 65 over the 61? Does any of the Onkyo TX-NRX1X series have what I want? or the Anthem MRX-500?
