External Hard Drive Not Recognized

I bought a new PS3 recently to replace an old PS3. The first time I connected my external hard drive (Western -1.5TB formatted to FAT32) it was recognized. Subsequent to that, I haven't been able to have the PS3 recognize the hard drive. It connects fine on my PC and I can also view files on a thumb drive. I can also play files from the hard drive on my other PS3 so think it must be some setting on my PS3 that is the issue.

Any help would be much appreciated.

That is a tricky one. If it worked on the new PS3 the first time and nothing has changed it should work again. There isn't anything you set on the PS3 to see or not see an external HDD. If it works on your other PS3 fine then it's probably not the HDD. Is your new PS3 a slim or super slim? You could also try to reset the PS3 and see if that helps. Remember to backup any game saves you may need.
