I came across a used denon ave 2809 ci - are these any good? seller says it is in mint condition. Any issues with this receiver. if I do get it what happens to my video - I have a blue ray directly connected to my epson 8500 ub HC.... thanks for all the help...

The 2809CI is a nice quality AVR which offers the same Audyssey MultEQ XT as the current Denon "CI" models and no issues other than as it's an HDMI 1.3 AVR will not pass 3D video. Althogh there is a video chip installed to upscale to 1080p, it can be turned off if it serves no real benefit (ie. if the PJ or BDP can do a better job).

I have a Denon 989 which is the same as the 2809 but with a different remote. I think the 2809 actually comes with a main remote and a zone 2 remote.

Other than that the receivers are the same.

I've had mine for 3.5 years and haven't had any problems at all. Not one. I use it daily with 6 ohm speakers and a powered sub.

The only things that might deter you are lack of passing a 3D signal and on screen display overlay over HDMI.

Neither are an issue for me as I don't have a 3D HDTV and my 989 is sitting on a shelf at eye level next to the TV so I call see the display just fine.
