EDIT: please see post #7 for current advice needed!
Hey all,
Been a long time lurker here and used the site to aid in my TC-P55GT50 purchase. And now, I finally have a question to post!
The question is, which receiver is better in terms of video and audio quality, ease of calibration, accuracy of outputs, etc.: the Pioneer Vsx-1122-K or Denon AVR-1613?
I am well aware that the receivers have a $200-300 difference in their retail prices but the reason I am comparing/considering them is because they are $359 and $349 at the present time, so both are within my budget. I do not want to spend more than ~$350 on a receiver at this point in time because it will be in a small room in my apartment. I will be pairing it with a set of Energy Take Classic satellite speakers until I buy a house and thus, can use floor standing speakers.
I am well aware that these receivers are in a different class and that comparing them is perhaps unusual and hard to do.
I know that there are a lot of features that the Pioneer has that the Denon doesn't, but I keep hearing that Denon has superior sound quality as well as the audition of Audyssey.
I tried searching the forum(s) for a comparison of these receivers but since they are at different price points, I haven't found a comparison.
So, any advice for someone who is new to the home theater scene and is just looking for a good set up for a modest price?
Thanks!
Disclaimer: I will be buying a house within the next few years so I am planning on using this set up in small room or bedroom once I move. I will buy a better receiver and speaker set when that time comes so while I know "buy nice or buy twice" and "you get what you pay for" may apply, this is only a temporary set up.
