I called Panasonic and they scheduled the appointment for me, hopefully your technician actually shows up smile.gif I have rescheduled appointment Friday evening for pictures, verification of panel hours and firmware version documentation. After that they said it would be about 10 days till I receive my new set at which time the repair company will bring the new set and take the my VT50 away

The difference in lifespan is minor. (Plasma panels only rarely fail due to thermal stress; other faults are more likely.) It would make burn in more likely simply because the panel is brighter.

Yes....I'm not worried about lifespan. I'll upgrade long before this panel dies!

Glad to hear Panasonic is taking care of the matter.

Oh, and an early welcome to the VT60 club. smile.gif

A further update, Amazon is going to accept the set back as a defective return and let me pay the difference(minus a $100 dollar credit) to move up to the 60VT60 so all in all very pleased especially with Amazon Customer service biggrin.gif

It didn't really fix the problem, its just masking it. The yellow spots are still there, but I think since its a much colder picture they're not as visible. And while my tv isn't calibrated I used settings of of cnet that I really enjoyed. (I know its not perfect).

Did they ask for pictures?

I'm only asking because I got my 55VT50 from amazon in February.
The repair company is taking pictures for Panasonic tomorrow , but no Amazon did not specifcally ask for pictures. I have everything in writing in an email and Pilot has been contacted to pick up my set.
amazon is the best - its one of the few places I'll spend a couple extra bucks to know its coming from them.
Couldn't agree more obviously. I have never had an issue with either a return, shipping or any other customer service issue. This goes above and beyond tho they could very easily have told me to pound sand smile.gif
post #376 of 964
They're counting on your word of mouth to enhance their sales numbers. wink.gif They've been good to me, too (but not THAT good eek.gif).
Amazon is indeed great when it comes to these things. I've had to return displays to them and had no issue at all.

That's awesome that Amazon is doing that for you. I wish I had got mine from Amazon now. When I contacted the person I purchased mine from, he gave me Panasonic's number and told me good luck in the future, but keep in mind no TV is perfect. Live and learn I guess.

The pull is strong lol did you have a dialogue with bb ?
I don't think it matters scirica for you since you don't need to switch screen sizes; they'll just replace yours with the 65 vt60

My VT50 will be going bye bye on Monday, that's leaves me the weekend to say my farewells frown.gif such a great set its a shame this issue has reared its ugly head for many on us
post #387 of 964
Finally got around to experimenting with VSUS high for my errant pixel (ZT6). When using the test feature to toggle between high and low, I saw no difference with the faintly pink-colored pixel with which I'm afflicted. Oh well, next time I'll have to grab a Best Buy warranty.mad.gif
post #388 of 964
Does a faint dead pixel out of 3 million functioning subpixels really bother you? I suppose it's a "once you notice you can't stop noticing" thing...
A stuck lit pixel (impossible on plasma) would really annoy me though.
It's in the bottom left corner of the screen and I can't see it from my typical viewing distance, so I should be okay. Had it on a 5020FD (Kuro) that I eventually sold due to the irritation (sat closer to the screen and it was more centrally located). Again, I should be okay, eventually, maybe. wink.gif Just have to overcome the OCD...
