Hello, everyone! I am looking to purchase a new TV while Best Buy and others stores are having savings of around $300. My problem is, I'm stuck between TVs, and yes I have been doing my research.
My situation:
I have an old Panasonic Plasma(http://www.crutchfield.com/S-iPbGOyKPhhp/p_13342PA20/Panasonic-TH-42PA20.html). The TV I have now has absolutely no problems, but it's time to get more modern. I will miss it though. Now, my room I want to purchase this TV for is a room in my basement, with a small window that no light really shines through(metal ring thing surrounding it on the outside and it is made of a blurry glass material), my Panasonic now has no issues with glare, so I don't think that will be a problem and I was going to with another Plasma. I usually play Xbox and PS3 on the TV with some Blu-Ray, Netflix, and TV watching here and there. I came between two plasmas:
Samsung PN51E550D1FXZA

Panasonic TC-P50UT50

They both seem like great TVs for the price. The Samsung looked good in Best Buy, but a bit dim.
I don't understand the price difference, though. Anyone know why the Panasonic is a good amount cheaper? Considering I hear Panasonic produces the best plasmas.
I was going to go with one of these to buy on Thursday, but while browsing on this website, I found a long thread on the forum discussing some the of flaws with plasmas.
Some flaws discussed:
Bad burn and Image Retention in from HUD in video games
Buzzing sound(probably used to it from my plasma I have now)
Games not looking bright and looking more movie-ish
Now, these can be an issue for me as my TV's main priority is gaming.
I am now totally confused as to if I want a plasma or a LCD TV now. My price range is around the $800 mark on the Best Buy website. I guess that is a little over the $1000 mark without the savings going on.
