The projector blanking out during web browsing is the exact problem I have and I've only experienced it with this particular projector. So far I haven't found a solution. I've tried turning off Flash H/W acceleration, using a Dr. HDMI unit, changing resolutions, disabling 3D, etc to no avail.

Definitely not a common thing for all projectors. Can't imagine what flash would have to do with it. A projector is just like a TV or computer monitor it should be able do just display whatever is coming out your PC.

mine does the same thing, it's weird though because it doesnt do it on every site, just certain ones and i thought it was just my pj. It will blink back and forth, come on, black out, come on, black out...it's annoying as hell.

Somethings wrong, owned mine for just over a month. I also have a high end Plasma TV . Had a Powerlite 1080 before. Watch alot everything, movies,sports,etc.. Everyone who watches at my house,on a regular bases is blown away by the quality of the picture.

One of the reasons I bought Epson is they have the best and fastest replacement program of any of the electronics manf. I own. Will be on your doorstep within 36hrs,faster if your using it for bus.No questions asked if its under warranty.
I beleave it to be a resolution problem, caused by your video card. And the crappy video quality coming from some web sites. Or multiple pop-ups and side bars, seem to confuse the projector as to what exactly its supposed to use. My PC tells me when its having a problem, usually with a resolution message. Try lowering your resolution,

oddly enough I also have gtx 580's..i bounce back and forth between sli and tri sli. I have 3 of them.

I want to be able to use this projector for gaming and 3D gaming (using Nvidia GTX-680s and 3Dplay) through Steam Big Picture mode. The biggest thing holding me back from going with the EPSON 5020UB over the Sony 50ES is the input lag concerns.

For those who play extensive games with the 5020UB, do you have any thoughts? I have more ambient light and the EPSON is less expensive than the Sony, so i'd gravitate towards the Epson if it could handle gaming right....

I play COD online, I thought I had the same problem. When I switched from my PJ back to my TV , same lag. So far on the whole I have not run into this problem. Im playing on a PS3

For reference I plan on having 2 rows of seats with second row on a riser. First row will probably be around 12 foot from the screen with second row...still figuring that out. The room is 27 foot long with 9 foot ceilings. I will be using a 16:9 Seymour AV Glacier White non-AT 120.5 inch diagonal screen. This is a walkout basement with a sliding glass door and a 3 window set. I will have blackout wood roman shades on the door and windows which won't bat cave it but come pretty close. No white walls in this room (or any where else in the house for that matter) Any help whether here in the thread or PM'd to me would be appreciated.
One thing you may want to keep in mind is projector noise, keeping the aforementioned distances 11-25ft in mind. Although i will tell you my projector is directly above my seating, on eco you can scarcely notice it, you can here it ramp up when you switch to normal, but your ear quikly gets used to it,except of course in extremely quite scenes. Which I know is the same for larger rooms when you run your PJ on Living room or Dynamic.

I have a Sanus mount VPMR1s-03 with a 9inch extention bar, easy to adjust ( pitch an Yaw) easy to take PJ down $68 Futureshop, in Canada mind you

DOn't know if this is a real issue or if my settings are off. The first time I turned on the 5020ube I got lots of vertical red lines. I thought it was normal and proceeded with the setup. After a month or so now they are back each time I turn it on. I have to turn it off then back on again for them to disappear.

I'll call Epson today on this but I can't find any setting or setup issues in the manual where only red vertical lines appear. Lots of them, spaced a couple of inches apart.

Sounds like a DEFECTIVE UNIT - you should have call EPSON - DAY-ONE

Sounds to me it's possibly the wireless HD pairing that's causing it. If it only happens at start up that is.

I'm glad you didn't call Epson "DAY ONE". If more people would try and work through an issue with a setting or two rather than complaining we would probably be paying less for our Epsons. They have a fantastic warranty that I think some may be taking advantage of.

I'm planning on buying the Epson 5020UB, and I was wondering if anyone is using the Lumagen Radiance XD with it. I would be interested in any calibration settings you're using with the Radiance XD and the 5020.

Does anyone experience any RF interference with a RF based universal remote?
Plenty of experience with RF interference and remotes, what's the problem?

to clarify, I meant does the RF transmitter on the 5020 cause interference with RF remotes?
Not with the remotes we use URC, RTI, Pro-control, I'm not sure about other remotes. Harmony tends to have more interference problems but haven't seen one with a 5020 so I can't say. I believe the frequency of the RF glasses are at a much higher frequency than the Harmony remotes so it shouldn't be a problem. Later this week I can take out our RF analyzer and see what frequency they run at. I think they use Zigbee protocol and shouldn't be a problem for most remote systems.

Hi Guys, I just ordered my Epson 5020ub at the magnolia form best buy. the sales rep told me that I will need to buy the 3D emitter extra as it does not come witih it. But checking a the Epson site it says a 3D HD transmitter is included. while it does not say anything like that at the best buy site. I will get the projector in 3 days and will find out. Does anybody have any thoughts?
thanks

Wow they told you that?

The 5020 glasses work on RF (instead of IR) so no additional emitter is needed.

My Epson & Samsung 4100 RF glasses worked in the kitchen half way across the house, causing the LCD lights on my fridge to strobe. No external transmitter being used.

I'm currently playing through Bioshock Infinite right now and I haven't really noticed a thing. I know when I played my first game on it, Unforgiven just 2 months ago I noticed it. Maybe I've gotten use to it? I don't know but either way it's no longer an issue for me. I consider myself an above average player in regards to quantity.

As noted by other posters, nothing extra is needed. In fact, it should come with 2 pairs of 3D glasses in the box along with a nifty usb charger for same.

BTW, really looking forward to watching THE MASTERS this week on my 2 week old 5020 on the 106" screen! Some of it may even be in 3D as my local Comcast provider has broadcast a few holes of major golf events in 3D for a couple of years now. Not 1080p but in the case of The Masters, it really shows you the slope and contour of those Augusta greens.
Just ordered the 5020 and need another pair or 2 of the glasses. Anybody know of some other 3d glasses that work for this unit?
I have seen in earlier posts that the Samsung SSG-4100GB 3D Active Glasses will work, and they are $27 a pair on Amazon. I cannot confirm this, but I'm sure someone else will.
Yes, I have three pair of the Samsung glasses and they work well. Mine were $19.99 from Amazon. They may be selling a lot and the price has gone up.
Awesome to hear I thought they were rf glasses and you couldn't use IR With this unit. Anyone know if the Sony ps3 glasses work?
The Samsung's we're talking about, the 4100 are RF not IR.
