Borrowing technology from the original ESS Heil Air Motion Transformer (AMT), plus a German-made genuine Mundorf replaceable diaphragm, the Dayton Audio AMT1-4 makes a superb tweeter available at a supremely attractive price. Also referred to as aero-striction tweeters, the AMT concept uses a pleated Kapton diaphragm immersed in a consistent magnetic field such that the pleats constrict and expand with the musical signal, pushing the air out from between them in the forward direction when the pleats contract.
