Forget about games for 6 months? No way.
I assume this is your first. We just had our second 4 weeks ago and have another one that just turned 2. Newborns are a piece of cake if they aren't colicky.
When our first was recently born I was able to game and be an "amazing" husband at the same time. Once the babe gets off the boob fulltime and starts taking a bottle, just volunteer to stay up with the babe during the nighttime feeding sessions so that your lady can get a nice 7-9 hour chunk of sleep in. Inevitably, your gonna stay up late, but you will also be playing awesome new next gen games while feeding/bonding with your bundle of joy and getting massive brownie points with the wife. Just make sure to get a nice pair of wireless headphones.
Now once the kid gets to the age where they start to look around, crawl, walk, that's when gaming gets tricky. Some people are ok with playing FPS/violent games with there toddlers in the room, I am not, so it's all up to how you want to parent. Most likely, gaming will also consist of late night sessions and nap time sessions unless you have other important stuff to do like laundry or yard work while the kids sleep..........but that can wait.
Inevitably, your gaming time will go down, but no need to completely write it off for 6 months, that's crazy talk.
