I can't speak for the later titles but COD2 was the first game on 360 I played the single player all the way through on. I think I got it at launch or very close to it and remember being amazed at how good it looked. I haven't played any of the others' single player modes and COD2 may not stand up to well 8 years later but it was awesome when it came out.

eek.gifeek.gifeek.gif So this is for real?? People actually buy these things to cheat in the game? Doesn't that take the fun out of it?? I guess that explains what I've seen happen sometimes during mutli-player?

That kid needs to learn how to take a video. I don't understand why many people hold their cell phone vertical instead of horizontal when recording a video. Or taking a picture. Most people I have asked about it when I see them doing it seem to have no clue at all.

Lag switches explain a lot. If it wasn't for those and my poor aiming ability, I'd be the best FPS player ever!

Hacks and lag switches are cheating. Pure and simple. modded controllers? Don't have a problem with them at all. What about keyboard and mouse adapters? How do you feel about them?

I bought my wife one and tried it. I play with the normal controller. It has no effect on game play. Since most games now have a set max fire rate for each gun. why bother? OK so you can set the controller so that the press of a button does a jump dive fire move. It doesn't save the people I have seen do that. The only thing I thought was cool was the jitter shot gun set up. it would aut fire that pump shotty FAST!!! it was awesome. Of course it went everywhere but I bet with a little practice, one could get good.

I can't imagine that a large portion of the population is using the lag switch. I think this is the very small minority like the achievement whores. like the ones that put the mic up to the speaker in karaoke games to get perfect pitch achievements and have no intention of actually playing/singing and only got the game to get the achievements.

and how much fun can it be with a lag switch? did you read the description of how it works? how can that be any fun? multiple routers needed, constantly pushing a button. and the time spent in lagging would begin to match how much time you're actually playing:

When you’d like to begin lagging push down the switch for a second or two. It is best to start just before running into battle. You will be able to continue playing. At this point just do what you normally do. The other person will be less able to retaliate and defend themselves as they are not receiving data about what you are doing. Take advantage of this weakness and go for the kill. Alternatively if you get ambushed lag your way out of a sticky situation. It’s a versatile tool and when you know how to use it it can change the entire game.

When you release the switch the game will sync up and make all the actions you’ve made while lagging.

so you're constantly pushing a button (right before the firefight) for 1-2 seconds. then killing them. then releasing the switch to sync back up. then pushing the button right before the next fight. if the person is willing to have the life sucked out of them with the sheer boredom of this process, then they deserve the kill at that point. I'd rather use a XIM device and actually enjoy killing people in the moment.

Modding a controller to rapid fire single shot weapons is cheating. People would use them in COD4 with the G3 which had virtually no recoil, in essence turning a very powerful and accurate single shot weapon into a very powerful and accurate machine gun. That is why some of the modded controllers were developed. If the game developer wanted that gun to be a machine gun, they would have made it so. Modding hardware to thwart the intentions of the game designer and gain an advantage over other players seems like a pretty clear cut case of cheating to me.

I don't have an opinion on keyboard and mouse adapters and made no statement about them.

To be fair a good dev can easily code in a cooldown time into weapons to prevent controller mods. But COD also uses old school ray-tracing weapons (bullets don't have travel time, but what you point at gets hit immediately) and not actual projectiles, so it's no wonder they take another lazy route.

Well, if you wanna do it RIGHT you gotta build it into your controller:

...and we are talking about the C O D community here, right? The same players that like to sit in a corner aiming down sights? The same players that stand in one place and launch noob tubes into the air? The same players that find dark corners to repeat shooting each other in the face? You really think that these guys wouldn't be interested in playing with a lag switch?! Lol!
Hopefully they start putting players into time-out for using them.

this has existed since the dawn of FPS games. campers existed in Quake, Unreal Tournament, etc. there's a thrill to a cheap kill.

but this lag switch thing seems so laborious. it then becomes a job where you don't get to enjoy the kill. you're worrying too much about when to press the button and when to release the button. the description on the web site says you even have to learn how to use it. that it's an "art."

http://www.charlieintel.com/2013/06/05/call-of-duty-ghosts-multiplayer-info-expected-to-come-in-august/

According to a tweet from Mark Rubin, Infinity Ward’s Executive Producer, we can expect to get Ghosts multiplayer info in August.

Black Ops 2 MP was also revealed last year in mid August via a live stream at Europe’s Gamescom event. Remember, multiplayer is always revealed around that time, but at least this should put to rest any rumors of MP showing up at E3.

Pre E3 COD: Ghosts Live stream. As expected, only a couple of single player levels are shown. Looks good. I wasn't blown away thinking "OMG....This is Next Gen!" eek.gif

Just ask Mr. Tinbox, he makes Mrs. Tinbox do the button for him.

Man Sage, you really did a nice job of explaining Mr. Steel-hut here. Well done! Last night he had 36 kills in a match, 35 of them were from all of the above!!!

Call of Duty: Ghosts is wants to give a special thanks for our Multiplayer fans. For everyone that pre-orders the game, you will receive the "Free Fall" downloadable bonus map at launch!

Free Fall drops players into a shattered skyscraper on the brink of collapse. Sideways staircases climb into the night sky, elevator shafts run along the ground, and what were once windows now form a terrifying glass floor, hundreds of feet above the city streets.

Call of Duty: Ghosts' dynamic map events are on full display in Free Fall, as the shattered building continues to fall throughout the match. With each drop, everything from sightlines, paths, and chokepoints change in real-time. The constantly shifting terrain will test even the most experienced players.
See here

This sounds potentially cool. Except for their Engrish. biggrin.gif

Great this means more **** in the game killing me instead of an actual player killing me.

Something tells me I will hate this ... nothing I hate more than getting killed by an damn exploding car that someone put 1 bullet into a half hour ago

This one will be even worse -- falling floor yippee.

COD hasn't been about regular players killing each other in a very long time. Why change it now?
I guess I was hoping for a map that doesn't have the same choke points that someone camps for the entire game.

When are they going to reveal the multiplayer for this game?

Is this the reason Ghosts is the best-selling next-gen game? It's the highest Xbox One game at #41 on Amazon's sales chart. Next closest One game is Forza Motorsport 5 at #81. Highest PS4 title, Watch Dogs, is at #91.

I wonder how things shake down closer to release time...
