Got this 3D 240Hz 42" vizio set at WallyWorld on black friday 2011 and two days before Christmas 2012, it craps out. 13 months and I have a paperweight.
It does the logo lights up but no picture or sound, the "won't turn on" symptom. On this model the ON/OFF light doesn't change between orange and white, just dim and brighter. Did all the basic troubleshoot stuff, no visibly blown caps and power supply board voltages check out with Fluke 77.
While it worked it was ok, I liked the weather app for different cities around the globe, and the youtube app was nice. I didn't have the ringing power supply issues (or my hearing isn't that good anymore)
Anyway, vizio customer support......really doesn't do support past 12 months. They don't actually laugh in your face, but since it's past 12 months they have no legal obligation to give a damn or be helpful in any way, shape or form. No parts for sale from vizio either.
I'm hesitant to look locally for repair places since most of them want to charge by the hour, and want a minimum of $200 or more.
I bought the 39" $279 insignia set at best buy as a quick replacement.... seems pretty good, maybe it will last more than 13 months
THE QUESTION;
Since I have no problems shipping the board off, can anyone recommend a place with an up front fixed rate?
Has any one used the repair shops on ebay for mainboards?
